I will not be building direct support for any of these other tv listing providers, but you're welcome to use these for TV listing if you can get XMLTV data for them.

Then you'd use XMLTV, exactly the same as before the current zap2it service existed.
The reason I provided a specific EPG Source for zap2it, is because they decided to be generous and give non-commercial applications free access to their data. This is not the case with the other services you've mentioned. For me to provide data from these other sources, I'd need commercial agreements with them, and part with huge amounts of cash monthly to pay for the data. I obviously wont be doing this.

Declare sub rant
On error goto aneurysm sub rant I just donât understand Zap2It, or their âeveryone uses their own methodâ choice for distribution. I also donât understand why I have three different programs that require three different downloads of (exactly the same?) Zap2It data. I may have a different cannel lineup than someone in a different city, but we both download listings for The History Channel (east, central or west). These channels could easily be mirrored, or shared between programs. end sub aneurysm: open âbrainâ for output as #1 do until EPG > 3-Days print #1, âserenity nowâ Loop

When I started reading that and I saw "sub" and thought you were talking about me initially, but soon clicked...

I knew you'd get it, just a feeble attempt at humor, and Iâve spent too much time in QB the last few days⦠BTW, the 13-day service is back, Iâm not stuck in a âserenity nowâ loop anymore. Might me a good time to look at some options on how the EPG is updated. Jim

Looks like they've changed their minds....
From: http://bb.labs.zap2it.com/viewtopic.php?t=794 1st post: IMPORTANT: 13 days of data now available This thread discusses the restriction from 2/10/06 to 2/13/06 to limit users to three days of data. That change was rolled back as of 2/13/06 at 4:15 p.m.
2006-02-15, 04:17 AM
Just in case you were thinking they rolled back to 3 days again.
"Based on the feedback we've received from the scale-back to 3 days of data, as well as our data analysis, we have reset Zap2it Labs DataDirect to allow downloads of up to 13 days. This change was implemented at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, 2/13/06. "

What additional info does zaptools get? They said cast/crew is 28% of their bandwidth. I see that we get that, but what else? Is this in addition to the cast mentioned in a description?
Just wondering if we could opt not to get additional info we don't need, if it's more than that. |
