I changed the configuration a couple of nights ago to convert my recordings to AVI's. I didn't take the time to see what the system requirements were before I did this, and apparently my pc is too weak to transcode them for the mvp (stupid thing 1). I also selected that the original mpg's be deleted after the conversion (stupid thing 2). Does anyone know of a good program that can convert the avi's back to mpg's so I can watch them through gbpvr? I downloaded AVI to MPEG Converter, but it gives me an "Invalid Floating Point Operation" exception when I try to convert. Any help for Stupid would be great. Thanks

You could save yourself a few hours, and use the video plugin to watch the avi.

Sounds great! What's the name of that plugin? I didn't see one called Video on the WIKI.

Video Library came w/ the default install. You'll need to configure it to look at where you keep the avi files you make.

I tried this, but through the MVP it doesn't work but for a few seconds.

Make sure it plays more than that using a normal media player. If you got an error while encoding it, the file may be corrupt.

I think pbb is correct in his original post. His machine is too slow for on-fly-transcoding to MPEG when viewing the AVI on his MVP.

You need to pay a visit to the MVP section. Playing AVI's via the MVP is not perfect. In fact, Hauppauge should never have said the MVP supports AVI file playback because that couldn't be further from the truth.

Lately, I've converted a few AVI videos using this: VideoraXbox360 converter. It is very simple to use. I have always had mixed results with DIKO and other converters. Just be sure that you pick the right aspect ratio to match your input.
