It'll be in the next two or three days.

Honestly though, I wouldnt get your hopes up too much. I cant think of anything I've changed that should have an impact on this.

Oh, I understand. If I had to take a guess I would probably say that these issues are related to some system dependent bug and not the fault of the software. I still look forward to the new release, it's a great program!

I have this exact problem with my 6600GT whenever I use any hardware accelerated drivers and an aspect ratio other than the default. I always thought it was simply a matter of gbpvr not being able to use DXVA with other aspect ratios, but if this is in fact a bug I too would LOVE to see it fixed.
Currently, I'm using Intervideo decoder, but I've had the exact same problem with nVidia and Cyberlink decoder.

GB-PVR doesnt actually do the playback itself. It just hooks up video decoders and other directshow components that are already on your machine and asks them to play the file. GB-PVR doesnt know anything about DXVA or any low-level details like that - its all supposed to be taken care of by directshow.

Given its only happening to a subset of nvidia users, its sounds like a nvidia bug to me.

Sub,
I had an interesting thing happen and wanted to ask you about it. I was trying different scenarios with the Nvidia mpeg encoder and realized that the files that I encoded in .ratdvd were intact and whole (no visual problems whereas if I played a mpeg file well...). So not knowing anything about how ratdvd works I figured that I would post it up and ask.

My question is, what codec does ratdvd use? If it uses the mpeg2 codec, is it specified by the dvd setup of the general playback setup?

Thanks,
Dave

I think ratdvd uses its own decoder, which from memory is a derivative of the xvid codec.

You are correct, I misunderstood the ratdvd format. Reading more about it now explains why I had such success.

thanks,

Same problem here. I'm using a GeForce 6200. As previously mentioned it appears to happen with any codec using hardware acceleration. The only aspect ratio that works correctly for me is the default. Anybody no for sure if the new version "magically" fixes the problem ? That would be really cool.

Thanks,

Kyle

Ok, so with the 96.12 release and the Nvidia 84.12 beta drivers, I've found that on my 6600GT, the garbage problem became worse. It was triggered when I used F7 to change aspect ratios (FYI, the same type of picture found in the screenshot in this thread). I've got Purevideo to use VMR9, Smart De-Interlace Control and a Display Type of "Content default". This time around, I found that the problem persisted on reboots (didn't used to before) and went away when Hardware acceleration was unchecked.

The weird thing was that it worked properly on a fresh install of GB-PVR, and it only appeared after I tried to change aspect ratios (I wanted to see if setting Display Type to "Anamorphic/Raw" would allow me to change Aspect Ratios properly). Since I know GB-PVR keeps the last aspect ratio used, I wanted to find a way to get GB-PVR back to the way it was when I installed it, without having to uninstall/re-install it again. I'm happy to report that resetting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\devnz\LastAspectRatio back to 0 seems to have fixed it (at least, for me). Unfortunately, it seems that I won't be able to change the aspect ratio anymore using my current Purevideo configuration.

Not sure what it all means, but I hope it helps.
