I was making some good progress, but the machine crashed and now I have to set everything back up. Not sure if this is related to the new release or not, but with the new version some things don't seem to work.

  1. DVD playback is broken. All I get is a black screen. I can see the difference in black-space where the playback should be, but nothing plays. This was working fine before and is setup as it was. ASUS DVD plays the DVDs fine.
  2. I have been struggling with the TV output. I have a good bit of black-space on the right hand side. The display from windows does this as well, but I have no idea how to fix since the output card does not have these types of controls. Any recommendations of how to handle TV output to ensure everything looks good on a 16x9 TV?

Thanks for the help.

Ok figured out #1... appears that it shows nothing on the main screen, but does output to the TV. Was this a known behaviour change in the new version, or just a by-product of my DVD playback tool? Strange...

Sounds like you just need to pick another aspect ratio maybe. Hit F7 a few times and see if any of them look better, then you can always edit the config.xml and hardcode in your own aspect ratios to work for your situation.

Your point 2 doesn't sound like pressing f7 will make any difference if occuring in Windows desktop also. Might want to try a few things?

1. Try changing the refresh rate for the monitor/tv under display settings
2. Most video cards with tv have an option to adjust the desktop relative position on tv.
3. Sometimes setting your display to overscan looks better too but again not sure what video card you have.

If you're still stuck let us know what card you have and I'll try to help more.

Thank you very much for the help.

F7 does nothing for me.

I am using a Volari X3XT for output. I think Overscan is the key. I have Underscan turned on in the Display properties. I have tried several reg changes (OverScan_Mode, OverScan_Default_X, etc.) and none seems to have any affect. Changing the refresh seems to do nothing as well.

When I set the output from 720p to 1080i, where the picture is offset changes. 720p just has about an inch on the right, and 1080i has an inch on top and 2 inch on the left. This is driving me crazy!

The card itself does not appear to have any way to "jog" the image left or right.

Any help would be GREAT!

Yes, it is. It supports 720p and 1080i. Its a Sony Rear Projection (KP-51HW40) hooked up via Component (3 color).

I have no problem with other devices, so I assume there is just an overscan miscalculation.
