I need a suggestion with pvr150 and irblaster

Everytime I search i run into people trying to use another card and the irblaster and the common response is its only for the 150. well. I have a 150.

I have a Coolsat 5000 fta satellite reciever. What is the best route for me to go in having gbpvr control it?

You need to get it working with the Hauppauge BlastCfg app first.

Ok i downloaded their tool and started scanning, but I have a feeling it wont work. How can i use the pvr-150 reciever to detect the remote codes off the satellite recievers remote. is there a tool out there or something i can use in conjunction with whatever to get up and running?

any more suggestions?

No, it only uses pre-defined codes. Once you have BlastCfg working, then GB-PVR just reuses these settings.

ok. a friend of mine has a generic comport ir reciever. is there a way to get the code i need off that and use it with irblaster? or does it HAVE to be supported by hauppauge?

You might want to look into another IR blaster and use it with something like Girder; hopefully then you would be able to detect your box's codes with a generic IR receiver and then blast them with a blaster...

I have the Coolsat 5000 and am able to control GBPVR using HIP/Hipsend and a media center remote control. I am having some small issues with channel numbers being sent consistently but it mostly works.
