theres a thread on the HIP forum that says you cant use the blaster side (of 2004 MCE remote) at all with HIP.

I am having similar issues. The MCE2005 plugin will learn the commands, but fails to trigger the ir blaster. In the gbpvr.exe log there is an error message stating:

ERROR [2] Failed to find MCE2005 device profile directory (C:\Program Files\gbpvr\\IR Definitions\RedRat\Directv). Channel change NOT sent.

Directv is the name of my learned commands file, however it is looking for it in RedRat instead of Mce2005. I can't find a way to redirect it

That's interesting. Try moving (or copying) your Directv directory from the mce2005 directory into the redrat directory.

I've been trying to make it work too, without success. Like yours, it learns but then does nothing. Sub says it's just not high enough on the list to fix since there are alternatives (Girder and HIP). I didn't see anything in the logs about it but from what you found I wonder if it's just looking in the wrong directory. If that's all it is, maybe we could convince Sub to fix it.

Yeah, I alredy tried that, but the RedRat remote apparently requires that the learned commands be stored in an xml format, whereas the mce2005 remote requires that they are stored as bin files. When I place my directv folder in the redrat directory, it finds the folder, but expects the files to be in xml format. If i could somehow convert the bin files to the correct xml format,it might work, but I'm clueless on how to do that.

I'm curious, if you move your MCE2005 learned remote directory to the RedRat directory, then rename the extension of the files from .bin to .xml, does it work?

No, it complains about it being an invalid xml format (I played with it a bit after my post). Perhaps the pointer to the MCE2005 executable is actually pointing to the redrat executable? (Or is C# like Java...it doesn't have pointers, only references? Smile )

I just tried this by renaming the files using "save as..." in notepad. I now get a slew of new errors. Here is my log file before renaming:

Can you set your logging level back to 'debug', then reproduce and repost the logs?
