I tried using xmltv.exe from xmltv.org and didn't have a problem downloading from zap2it.com, but still no go within gbpvr. Any further ideas on what would be causing the gbpvr error?

xmltv.exe output:

C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop\xmltv-0.5.42-win32>xmltv.exe tv_grab_na_dd
--configure
Timezone is -0700
adding '--share=C:/Documents and Settings/Ben/Desktop/xmltv-0.5.42-win32/share/x
mltv'
using config filename ./.xmltv/tv_grab_na_dd.conf

Time OFFSET Selection (note: not a timeZONE)
It is better to specify +0000 and let the final application
deal with a local conversion (helps with DST issues), but you
can specify a Time Offset if desired.

-0500 Eastern Standard or Central Daylight
-0600 Central Standard or Mountain Daylight

Whats the GB-PVR error message?

Why are you trying to use zap2it via XMLTV instead of the built in zap2it EPG?

The xmltv.exe test was a followup from my previous message in the thread. I have been trying to use zap2it using the built in zap2it epg (post #9), but it will never properly connect to the zap2it service. I tried xmltv.exe to rule out connection issues, and was able to connect and download the data no problem with it. I have always used the builtin gbpvr zap2it epg in the past but it hasn't worked since I upgraded to 96.08. Tried reloading the 95.x version I had been using as well as the newer 96.12 build but have had no luck getting the epg to work since it stopped working. So for now I can at least download the data using xmltv.exe into an xmltv.xml file and then point to that file in the xmltv epg setting of gbpvr, but it's just a workaround until I figure out what's keeping gbpvr from being able to do the zap2it updates on it's own like it used to.

Honestly, I'm sure this is related to connection issues. You must have some firewall software or anti-virus software that is blocking GB-PVR from getting to the zap2it website. The log is very clear, and this is backed up by the fact you've tried the old version of the software that used to work, and you find it now has the same problem.

What firewall software do you run?

Have you checked the XP firewall?

Do you run any 'net nanny' or other content filtering software?

What antivirus software are you running?

I too encountered the same error message as gkreis and after double checking my MDAC install I noticed that my gbpvr.mdb file was hovering right at 2GB. That is the size limit for Access so I tried shutting down and compressing the database (dropped down to 1.5MB). Reran the EPG update and everything worked fine.

Someday maybe if sub gets bored - is SQLite or SQLServer 2005 Express an alternative? But with a new baby its probably not on the top of his list!

I, too, had a ChannelFactory error and a gbpvr.mdb that had grown to 2GB in size. After compressing the file (by enterning Config and clicking "Ok" to exit) the error was gone.

BTW, to compress the .mdb using the "config" method, nothing can be attached to the DB. I found that this includes an open web page to the web admin page -- even if you aren't logged on.

Hello,

Can anyone help with this Zap2it error message? I'm been trying to update the EPG to no avail since updating to GBPVR version 0.97.9. I uninstalled and reinstalled GBPVR and even delete the leftover devzn directory. I also bypassed my router, plugged the LAN cable directly into the computer, disable windows firewall and am still getting an error message.

Here's the error log:
