Problems with install on a new system with PVR150 and versions 96.8 and 96.12:

1. Live TV has black screen says "No tuners available..." WinTV2K live TV and recordings work, and GBPVR can play a WinTV2K recording, so decoders seem to be OK. Using the Hauppauge standard decoders. Everything looks OK in config and the program guide is OK in GBPVR.

2. Recordings do not start, and cannot be cancelled from pending status. The GBPVR RecordingService.exe.log file fills up with the following error:

3/7/2006 10:29:35 AM.732 VERBOSE [11] RecordingFactory.loadSchedule()
3/7/2006 10:29:35 AM.732 VERBOSE [11] getValue cached value: /settings/AutoRemoveMissingRecordings : true

at GBPVR.RecordingService.RecordingManager.WorkerThread()

This situation existed from the initial install of 0.96.8 and continues following the 0.96.12 install on top of 0.96.8.

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks.

Based on that little log snippet, it looks like your the data access components one your machine have become "broken". It might be worth trying to reinstall Microsoft MDAC.

Alternatively, its possible your GBPVR.MDB file has become corrupt and some how causing this.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I rerpaired (or tried to) the MDA components using the guidance from Microsoft, essentially reinstall from the CD. No change. The Microsoft MDA component checker utility finds no problems.

I deleted the gbpvr.mdb file and ran the installer again. No change.

Removed the entire gbpvr installation, moved all the files left to another folder, deleted the old folders, and reinstalled. Still no change.

I have had GBPVR working fine for months on this hardware and different XP install. Currently, this is a new disk and a new, clean install of XP. The previous install had Office 2000 with Access on the machine. Would this make a difference?

I can send the log files if it would help.

Again, thanks.

It is something wrong with data access components.

No you wouldnt need to install Access. A normal install of XP contains MDAC 2.7, which contains everything you need to access .MDB files. In your case, something has broken this.

Maybe worth trying to upgrade to MDAC 2.8.

Problem fixed through re-install of WinXP. Tried every fix for MDAC that I could find, none solved the GBPVR problems. However, the new install seems to have done the trick. Thanks.
