Thanks sub. I'll try to fix my directshow decoders/filter problems by scanning the forum threads posted. Also, I'll try the CTRL-K(record) since I don't have a remote and give it a try. I'll post my findings tomorrow night. Thanks.

It works, however, though the show that I had initiated Record(CTRL-K) with did get recorded the following show was also recorded(different file name). So does that mean that if I'm gone for a whole day GBPVR will record every show in that span? Is there a way to just record the show that was initiated with Record(CTRL-K)?

As sub mentioned above, when you record this way it switches to timeshift mode. Behind the scenes it is recording each subsequent show, but these are automatically deleted, just like happens when you watch timeshift live tv.

If you dont want to do this, just schedule the recording using a Manual Recording.

I seem to be missing some of the 'logic' of the timeshift mechanism.
Like other people, I have also checked the 'Use life preview.. ' and 'Return from timeshift....' settings. In that case, I would not expect ANY disk activity when only watching.
Pressing Pause starts 'timeshifting' (I believe WinTV refers to this as 'slipmode' ). Pressing Ctrl-K should start recording. OK I can understand that.
But ....
similar to using a VCR I would then expect it to continue recording (up to some pre-set time limit).
The described behaviour .... record this show only .... I can also understand as a workable alternative.
I do however NOT understand why I would be keeping my disks busy recording 'each subsequent show, but then automatically erasing them....'

Can someone help me understand what the desired 'effect' of this behaviour would be ??

It does this because it has to switch into timeshift mode to record and watch the show at the same time. There is no logic automatically switch back out of timeshift mode at the end of the recording like you suggest. It is working the way I intended it to.

Much of this logic was in place before live preview mode existed.
