Quote:But: If i "reinstall" any DVD-compatible CoDec, GB-PVR can play DVD... until next Reboot... then the same game.
Reinstall CoDecs -> watch DVD -> Reboot -> watch DVD not possible -> Reinstall CoDecs -> work...

But only with GB-PVR and WMP. If i use Nero Show (use it's own CoDec) than there's no problem...

Hm..., GB-PVR Bug or DirectShow-Bug? (were there any updates last time for DirectShow/WMP who could be responsible for that?)
That doesnt sound GB-PVR related, especially if it also affects WMP.

Can you post your logs also?

I installed WinDVD 6 for a test and the results are even more peculiar. I haven't seen the circumstances described by ShiningDragon but something equally disturbing.

After installing and selecting the Intervideo codecs I was able to play a DVD. I used an older DVD of Casablanca and it worked fine. However, when I tried to play a newer DVD, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the system had one of those Microsoft "GBPVR has encountered an error. Send/Don't Send" dialogs.

Curiouser and curiouser.

I suspect if you tried to play the same DVD in graphedit, you'd encounter simiilar problems.

Don't know the case of the error message
but I had the black screen untill
DVD Region was set.

If DVD Region is set "undefined" by firmware
after reset/shutdown it should be set every time...

And for "escape" from such a state try to use STOP key.

Hm, after sub mentioned the tool "graphedit" i used this one.
I was heavily surprised! The used Filters changed often, if i tried to play dvd or mpeg-2 Stream.
Very curios -> The Splitter choosed a mpeg-1 Decoder for DVD o.O
Something is messing up the registry:
GB-PVR or PureVideo (latest Version) or Nero

For now, i deinstalled Nero AND PureVideo (instead installed the PowerDVD 6 Decoder) and it SEEMS to work.

PS:
Sorry Sub, now logfiles here. I am not often at home... and if i am at home, than i forget the logs... -.-
Perhaps i'll make a constant VNC Connection for you to test yourself :-D

Btw., how's doing little sub? I hope your baby is fine Smile

GB-PVR doesnt with do anything to the registry, other storing the last volume, last aspect ratio and last GB-PVR window size...nothing related to decoders etc.

I'm not familiar with how to use graphedit so i haven't gone down that path yet. But in my case the NVidia decoder has not changed since the last time the DVD worked, the only change to the system was the GBPVR upgrade.

Right now the situation is that an "older", more "basic" DVD (Casablanc) works but a newer one with lots of enhanced features, additional material, etc. (Harry Potter) does not.

I had the same experience. If you have Nero and PureVideo, uninstall them and try with another one (PowerDVD 6).
C'mon let's find out the problem; i am sure, that we have the same problem.

I THINK that the purevideo is responsible for that, but i need more testing. And your described symptoms are 100percent like mine.

But i don't think that GB-PVR is responsible for this behaviour. Pleasy try another decoder (and important: DEINISTALL Nero and/or PureVideo)

Let's help sub.

So, a few hours/days of testing, many reboots included, confirmed my thoughts:

No Nero/PureVideo = no DVD/MPEG-2 Playback Problems anymore.

I am using for now the Cyberlink PowerDVD 6 CoDec incl. the Cyberlink DVD-Navigator (it's better for menu-rich DVD's).

The question now is: Why comes this behavior NOW and not after installing der Nero/PureVideo CoDec's (they were both MONTH AGO on my Machine).

If i now reinstall PureVideo and Nero -> Problems come back. I can't understand this.
