I have a problem that does not seem to have a solution. I am looking for help to see if anyone is successfully converting dvr-ms to mpg2 and running comskip in a similar environment.

I am using Fusion 5 Lite card for ATSC OTA (MPEG2 and AC3) reception. I am using dvr-ms mux to do the recordings (Cyberlink muxes create stutter, I have tried them all). When GBPVRConvert runs it stalls after about 70 MB and never finishes. I tried other tools (autodvrconvert, DVRMSToolbox) unsuccessfully. This happens with 720p and 1080i material.

I sent Sub a sample and he was able to reproduce the problem, but he said it is happening outside GBPVR and he has no visibility into that.

If this is working for you, or if you are using Cyberlink mux with no stutter, let me know.

I use a different cyberlink mux.

pempgmux.ax
VERSION: 4.0.2221

This fixed almost all problems I had with dvr-ms conversion.

The mux is installed with Cyberlink PowerEncoder. I believe there's a demo of it available. Just remember to remove other Cyberlink muxes.

Does this mux show up in the muxchecker program? I have found alternate versions of the mux with each cyberlink product where the initials of the product name appear at the begining of the file name:

pdmpgmux.ax = powerdirector
ppmpgmux.ax = powerproducer

I have tried registering all these various files, and not one of them show up in the muxchecker. The only one that I can register and have it show up in muxchecker is if the file is named mpgmux.ax. I think I even tried renaming one of the product specific versions to mpgmux.ax and it still wouldn't display in muxchecker.

Stattik,
From your experience With this mux, quality wise, which is better, record in dvr-ms then convert to mpg, or use this mux to do the recording in mpg? Thanks

DVR-MS is a container around MPEG.
That is why conversion is possible with a (de)mux
The picture/sound quality is the same.

I tried recording straight to the Cyberlink MUX but there were problems so I just record to dvr-ms and convert to mpg.
