Hi all,
Sorry if this is has already posted but I searched the forum and have not found anything that directly covers this (admittedly though I am new to HIP and am still trying to learn about it :eek: ).

What I am trying to do is use the green button on my MCE2005 remote and HIP to start or focus GBPVR. I know you can do it with Girder but it is way to powerfull for what I need to do. Has anyone done this? If so, any hints?

Thanks,
dave

Honestly Girder and HiP do just about teh same thing, so it's 6 of one, half dozen the other really as to which one you are using. I will tell you from first hand experience it took me about 2 minutes to figure out what I was doing in Girder and then it was perfect...now there is a supposedly cool driver written just for the MCE2k5 remote and HiP that allows it to do all it's stuff via HiP but with all the buttons working with the latest version of gbpvr I would say try Girder, map the green button and something else to work as your F7 key and you will have a nice no-keyboard driven setup.

First off, I'll assume that you have the 'Start' button set to {HOME}

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

If you don't, follow the HipGuide on the wiki...

I know that sometimes, after I've started my computer, and GBPVR is not already running (not in the startup folder), hip will not start gbpvr using the Green button, (actually called the 'start' button). Usually, if I start it, (and maybe close it) HIP will do it's job; starting GBPVR when the Start is clicked...

By the way, to each his own, but,.... Hip is really not difficult, and it's free! The HipGuide on the wiki is quite good at getting someone up and running, and making all the buttons on the remote work...

I've got a similar set up but with a remote wonder 2. I map my blue button to start HIP if it's not started - I just tell my wife this, heck even thinking of putting a "PRESS THE BLUE BUTTON" as the background. Then in HIP the blue button is mapped to start GBPVR - using startGBPVR.exe which shows a splash screen. It's two button presses, but not so bad. In your case switch blue button to START button I suppose.

Then I map the play and menu button to start gbpvr as well. This way if it suddenly goes out of focus, you essentially press "MENU" and gbpvr comes into focus. This is somewhat intuitive.

OOOHH...just thought of something...HIP can be configured that whenever it starts, it can start a program as well. So just schedule it so that whenever HIP starts for it to start GBPVR as well. Give it a try.

I was trying to do the same thing, get GB-PVR to start by pressing the Green MCE start button on my Hauppauge MCE remote in HIP,

finally got it working, by adding it to the system-wide keys in Preferences/Alternate Input.
I set the button to the predefined "Run or Show: GB-PVR".
It doesnt focus right, but atleast it starts GBPVR if it's not running Smile

Edit: Fixed the focus problem by adding a keyboard shortcut to my GBPVR desktop shortcut,
and setting HIP to send the system this key combo isntead of executing the program, so far it has worked every time Smile)
