Hi,

Has anyone tried the beta dongle.bin from Hauppauge? I tried it today and was encouraged at first as it seemed to make the MVP more responsive and more stable in video playback, until....

I tried to view LiveTV and it just reboots. Looking through the log I see:

Everything else works just fine, including playing back pre-recorded stuff.

I'm still in search of the Holy Grail of dongles - Sub, I'm afraid I've had to give up with yours, it frequently becomes unresponsive and seems to 'buffer' commands like pause, stop etc. where eventually it responds and tries to do everything at once and I have to reset the MVP Sad

Thanks,
C.

Presumably you guys do the same as me and just extract dongle.bin from teh exe file and plonk it in the GBPVR dongle directory right? i.e. neitehr oif you is actually installing the whole Hauppage MVP s/w?

The reason I ask is that I notice that unlike the previous versions, there are TWO .bin files in the 25_24023b driver, a dongle.bin and a resource.bin. I was curious about the latter.

Btw to trace down problems connecting to your MVPs if you have more than one there is a free network monitor that doesn't need to be installed. Just run from a location on your local and you'll see what's going on in real time from GBPVR Server to multi-media mvp connections.

cport.exe

Interesting - how do the version numbers map out? 2.5 24023b = 2.0.24.23025? I can *almost* see a connection.

So does your version have the network selection screen come at boot time?

I thought about sniffing the wire(less) but wouldn't be sure what I'm looking for.

HtV/Tipstir,

Sorry to darg this up again, but I was hoping one of you would confirm my question :p from further up

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=5

about whether you just extract the dongles (which I generally do, sticking them in the gbpvr dongle dir) and whether you knew what the second .bin files in the 25_24023b driver, a "resource.bin" does? Not seen this one.

I have done that in the past....sometimes it seems to hang when loading the dongle.bin.....so most of the time I just install the Happage Software and turin off GBPVR service and let the dongle.bin get loaded from the Hauppage service....then when done I shut the Hauppage services down again and restart GBPVR Service.

hope this isn't a stupid question, but just HOW do you change the dongle.bin?

I went into the \hardware directory of where the MVP software is installed, renamed dongle.bin to dongle.BAK.

Then I copied a new dongle file (in this case mvpmc) and renamed it dongle.bin.

Restarted the MVP sw, and the MVP itself - still loaded Hauppauge interface.

So I went through my computer and found every dongle*.* file, and deleted AL" of them!

MVP still loads the Hauppauge menu when it's started!! What gives?

I think you suppose the replace the dongle.bin under \devnz\gbpvr\dongle with the new version.

As for the Hauppage interface, you need to disable the two hauppage services in window control panel to have the gbpvr interface to load.
