well the problem i think im talking about (dunno if its related to yours) has been since the last version =/.. with shows (same shows) on same channel within a hour or 2 apart... it will record duplicates...at first when i upgraded to new version it worked fine...

new350user Wrote:Possible related problem - 96.12 will not record what it probably thinks are duplicates, even though I DO WANT IT TO and UNchecked "Don't record duplicates" in Config. Example: a show called "Fresh" on VH1 twice a day, but GB-PVR only schedules the first showing each day.

Both showings were recorded in 95.15, but one of the two upgrades since then seems to have broken this.

How did you schedule it? Is it scheduled as "all shows, all channels", or as a "timeslot" recording?

If you have scheduled is as a timeslot recording, there is a setting in config.xml that is
<AllowableTimeslotVariance>90</AllowableTimeslotVariance>
which means that any shows starting within +-90 minutes of the "original" schedule will be recorded. If I remember correctly this was previously 120 minutes, which means that a if the second show starts 2 hours after the first, it would have been recorded (as a side effect) with the old 120 min setting, but not with the new, finer, setting...
I'm not always right

The Record Type is "Record Season (all episodes on this channel)"

The timeslot setting is the first thing I checked. I'll "bite the bullet" and restore my backup of 95.15 this weekend. Hopefully that will fix this.

Sorry sub, I thought that you needed was supplied in post #8.

I’m trying Rectracker, so I’ve turned off avoid dupes in the config.
I can turn it back on and help troubleshoot for a few days if needed?
I’ve been looking at the mdb’s and I don’t see any obvious problems. The unique ID’s are there, and although RecTracker (using -purge in postprocessing.bat) is “very” aggressive, it does a great job of avoiding the dupes.

Do you have an extra zap2It account available for troubleshooting things like this?
Like most people, I’d prefer not to share my user name and password because I use them for other things.
But my zap2It U.S.A. cable provider configuration is:
Long Lines Cable - Jefferson (for 57049)

In my case, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters and others were recording dup episodes.
And dupe recordings were not being purged from the pending list.

When does avoid duplicates normally purge the dupe pending recordings?
I believe my dupe recordings happened the following day, but it could have been later in the same day. I’d have to go back and check.

Yes, stattik provided a sample, but I wasnt able to reproduce it. He also wasnt able to reproduce it when I asked for his logs.

If anyone has another example they want me to look at, email the details over that I asked for and I'll take a look.

I prefer not to look at the problem at all, but if you make it easy for me, then I'm happy to take a look. You can aways change you password temporarily if you want.

I hear ya,

You know how much I admire your program and efforts sub.
My posts aren’t intended to sound harsh in any way. But please keep in mind that my background has made me very “to the point” when it comes to troubleshooting a computer or software problem.

More information, but I don’t know if one problem would interact with the other.
I automatically export xml files for each recording in postprocessing.bat (attached zip).
I also experienced the intermittent gap in the epg thing, until I went back to complete epg reload.

If you want, I can try to revert all my settings back to what they were when I had the problem, but I’m not sure I can duplicate the issue.

When should I expect the pending recordings to purge using the default avoid duplicates setting? Will recordings that are in the database be automatically avoided, or do they need to be recorded again?

Jim

<edit>
Another observation.
I noticed that FX had been changing the time schedule of their “married with children” show on a regular basis.
The guide displayed both show times, something like 8:30-9:00 and 8:35-9:00.
I could scroll from the show before married with children into the first instance, then to the second instance, then to the show following it.
Maybe the dupe recordings were duplicate epg entries? Not sure, just another idea.
