I resent that - Unlike Australia that was populated by Convicts who had no choice to go there, NZ was populated by the convicts who were smart enough to escape from Australia and by criminals in the UK who hadn't yet been caught but needed to get the hell away from England!
(My Dad had just graduated as a teacher in the UK and was paid by the NZ Government in the 70's to move here)
