Non US chacters in "Search guide"

In Search Guide it is not possible to see shows which begins with non US characters.
I can see that this problem has been discussed a year ago in this thread:

But no useful solution came up. I have tried the suggested changes i the skin.xml file, but I get the error message:
"There is an invalid character in the given encoding. Line 20, position 91."

Any good ideas?

You need to add in the skin.xml file (at its top) a tag for the correct encoding...
this is usually good for most non-us characters (works great for me in Hebrew)
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Now - you need to save the skin.xml in the same encoding (when you save the file, choose "save as" and you should have, in the saving window, a drop down for encoding [usually it's set by default to ANSI] change to utf-8).
