Hi,

This has happened twice in the past couple of weeks. All of my channels are three digit and are sent from a USB-UIRT to a Sky Digital box.

It would appear that gbpvr is sending 1115 rather than 115, this then switches the Sky box to the wrong channel.

In the USB-UIRT channel changer dialog I have tried:

1. All checkboxes unticked
2. Checkbox 1 and checkbox 3 ticked.

Both have resulted in this occasional problem.

I'm not using the most recent release of gbpvr. Can someone please tell me if this problem has been known to occur with older releases and whether it has been fixed?

It may not be a gbpvr issue but on both occasions it has occured when trying to switch to channel 115. Other recordings on 115 have been successful so I'm not quite sure why. Both may have been back to back recordings with something else - I'm not certain about that though.

Thanks.
GB-PVR 1.0.16 (recording service and database) running on: VIA EPIA 5000 (533Mhz), 512MB, 40GB HD, PVR-150MCE, USB-UIRT controlling Sky Digital box.

GB-PVR 1.3.11 (front-end and client for above) running on: Toshiba NB100 netbook 1.6Ghz, 160GB HD, 1GB RAM.

Front-end viewed on 2xMVPs (using mvpmc dongle).

I get this occasionally also - I also use a USBUIRT to control my Sky Digibox.
I've tried re-training the USBUIRT config to the sky remote, and that did seem to help a little.
I also get a problem whereby the USBUIRT just fails to flash and the only way to get it working again is to re-start the recording service. This also seems to cure the problem with additionl flashes that we both seem to be getting. I wonder if the problems could be related in some way.

Possibly.

I've now set GB-PVR to debug logging. If it happens again I'm hoping there may be something in there, but I'm unsure as to whether individual IR sends get logged.

I'm currently not using the USB-UIRT as a receiver by the way, just as a transmitter as I have had a problem whereby the USB-UIRT stops responding.

Me too - see this thread...

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=9026

BTW I too only use GBPVR as a transmitter, but I still get the non-responding problem occasionally.

Thanks for the link.

I've not had my USB-UIRT stop responding since I started using it in transmit only mode and removed girder from my system. I'm using the USB-UIRT 1.3 drivers. Incidentally, I'm not using the GB-PVR client application just the recording service / scheduler and web server.

Apart from the occasional incorrect channel change the whole setup has been incredibly reliable.

Thats interesting. I'd sort of assumed that the problem 'cropped up' after using the GBPVR client app, but I have posted before that it has happened when the PC was completely un-attended (but I'd sort of put that down as a fluke), so maybe the problem lies elsewhere.

Obviously there is nothing in the logs that points to there being a problem (I've already pasted mine into the other thread) and sub couldn't see anything wrong.

Does anyone else have any ideas about this? Any info we can 'pool' to give sub a head-start in tracking the problem would be appreciated.

My assumption about it being a change to channel 115 during a back to back recording seems was proved wrong last night:

I watched my PC record 3 programmes: 1 on channel 101, followed by another, straight after, on channel 101, followed by another, straight after that, on channel 115.

All channel changes were successful. So back to square one I guess.

sub, would it be possible to add some debug logging code to the next release (or whenever you find time) to log each channel change IR send please?

We would then probably be able to find out whether the problem lies with GB-PVR or the USB-UIRT driver.

Thanks

It pretty much does log everything already. When it changes channels, you'll see the individual number that are being sent.

I'm using a Panasonic UK Sky Digibox with USB-UIRT and having exactly the same problem. Have found it relatively easy to reproduce by going into live tv mode and moving up and down through channels. It seems that channel changing works fine as long as there are no repeated digits (as in 115). If there are repeated digits then the behaviour is inconsistent, i.e. it works sometimes but not others.

Please could anyone let me know if they have been able to stabilise the behaviour at all?

Thanks in advance,
Will
