The Recording Service seems to work fine BUT:
GB-PVR itself does not (with v2.0 installed only - so I re-installed v1.1 again to get GB-PVR working again but now with v2.0 released I would say that this should get fixed...), I got that error in the log file:

I wont be immediately jumping to the 2.0 framework. For now people will continue to need the .net 1.1 framework runtime.

I will be starting to plan for support the 2.0 framework some time in the near future, but as much as I'd like to move to it now, I need to carefully consider what this will mean for the large number of people already using GB-PVR.

Of course, but I meant for example you could overwork the v1.1 code so that compiled .exe runs on v2.0 (as the GBPVR-RecordingService does - at least seems to do - too (although this won't be as good as compiling it for v2.0), that is possible...

Does this mean that I should not install the .Net 2.0 framework? I did that this morning, and so far everything seems to be working fine - on my PC, and on my TV through the Media MVP.

You can install the .Net 2.0 framework, but you'll also need to have the .Net 1.1 framework installed.
