Comclean Question

Since i can't get GBpvr to reliabilly auto skip over commercials i've been playing with Comclean. I've gotten it to run, seems ok. makes what i thought were the approaite files. that being said.

In the directory for a recording there are four files

recording_20051115_12301330.log
recording_20051115_12301330.mpg
recording_20051115_12301330.txt
recording_20051115_12301330_original.mpg

This all seemed fine to me with one exception I'm using the Video Archiver Plugin and instead of playing the cleaned file, it's playing the original file, the one with the commercials still in it. I doesn't even show the the file i'd like it to play even though it's there in the driectory and named correctly.

Am i doing something wrong here or do i need to run rename as well or is there something i need to do to the video archiver plug?

I think i may have found an answer. If i move or delete the original file from the driectory then the Video Archiver shows the cleaned mpg. Since this is pretty new to me yet i don't want to just delete the original i'd like to just move it to a holding directory. I've added the line

del "%~dpn1_original.mpg

to my post processing bat file, but it seems to me that would best be run from the comclean bat file since not everything i record gets comskipped or comcleaned. At least that's the way i'm looking at it. Also since comclean is being run i suppose i'd need to delete the txt and log files after comclean is run as well.

Is this making any sense to you? and am i on the right track do you think?

But the question why the video archiver does not play the cleaned file is still unanswered.

Only Jeff can answer that one. I'd suspect that it has something to do with the database and tracking recordings. If it works moving or deleting the original out of the recording directory I'm Happy. I ran a few tests last night and all went well just deleting the original file and the txt and logs files.
It all seemed to work well as long as comskip keep identifying commercials correctly. Today will be the real test as her silly soap operas will get the full treatment.

Remember that if it fails there is a lot you can tune!
So don't delete the original until after you have checked the results (or your wife may get mad )
Checking is easy, simply drag and drop the .txt file on comskip.exe and you can quickly review if the cuts are done correctly (see debugwindow.rtf)

I've been trying to get through the debug file little at a time. So far the stock ini file has been doing pretty good. it does better on some shows than others. It does have trouble sometimes with finding what is show and what is commercial in my wifes soap opera, of course so do I. While it misses once in a while overall it does very well. When a pure novice like me finally figures out what you're talking about I'll be doing a bit more tuning, especially channel to channel. I notice for example that it does better on ABC than it does on CBS.

I added these lines to my post processing bat file to play it safe for a few days and it's worked very well so far. Until i get it fine tuned a bit more I'm only running comclean on CBS channel 3. I figure if i'm going to practice i'd rather lose a soap.

Would it be possible to create a csv file and log file from a recording that does not work well and mail me the results?
