Comclean inconsistent

This concerns nonrepeatable behavior of comclean. I'm recording MS-DVR files. It is understandable that comskip, as a heuristic, doesn't catch every commercial. What is puzzling, however, is that of the commercials recognized by comskip, comclean cuts some of the time, and not others. This occurs on recurring same-series recordings, within individual recordings, to a varying degree. Wouldn't this rule out fomat issues?

Comskip can process single file dvr-ms recordings but
you can not use comclean on dvr-ms files.

Erik, that is what I thought, yet it gives the appearance of working. According to the comskip documentation, comskip by itself does not jump over commercials, so I figured comclean must be functioning.

GBPVR uses the comskip output (the .txt file or the .edl file) to jump over commercials. No need to have or run comclean within GBPVR.
The only reason you may want to cut out the commercials is when you want to plat the recording outside GBPVR with a player that can not read one of the many output formats of Comskip.

I am confused by the GB-PVR docs, which seem to say that to skip over a commercial, one has to press a couple of keys. So I thought that my installation of comclean must be doing the work.
But the question still remains: Why does GB-PVR sometimes play right through the commercial bars, and other times, skip precisely over them?

No idea.
First remove comclean just to be sure its not making things more complex.
Then make sure your comskip.ini file has
output_edl=1

What are the 'couple of keys' you're hitting.
Within GBPVR if you hit (i think) 999 then it toggles between automatic commercial skip and manual commercial skip.
