If I try and watch a divx etc in gb, the remote stops working. (ff,rew, back/exit,pause etc) However the volume control works. If I trigger the osd with the mouse and do an action, ff, paause etc, the remote will work from then on!

CC

Done all the restart ir, set higher pri in task manager, Fix 45 b remote etc.

The remote only works with the current application with focus. The newest version of the divx software is known to remove the focus from the current application, and instead switch it to it's stupid tray icon. This has been discussed in the past. Apparently there is some divx tray remover utility you can which corrects it. I dont remember the details since I dont use their software.

This Divx tray icon is driving me mad....It puts GBPVR in the background and disables my remote.... I tried to find a utility to remove it, but no luck.

Does anybody know how to avoid divx going to the foreground (because of this tray icon)?

Thx,
Yann

No, but if you have the 45 button remote the menu (i) button is by default mapped to the Windows task list outside of gbpvr. So, when divx grabs focus you can get it back by pushing the menu button and selecting gbpvr from the task list via the arrows keys. I don't know if there's a default task list mapping for the 34-button remote or not.

Alternatively, you can uninstall divx and install xvid instead. It doesn't have this problem and plays back the divx files fine.

That's funny, I do have the 45 buttons from Hauppauge, but it doesn't do anything outside of GBPVR. The menu button does not control windows for me. How did you do that? I know there is a irremote.ini for the mapping, but I haven't spend much time on it (yet).

Anyway, intalling xvid instead of divx should do the trick.

Cheers,
Yann

In your irremote.ini you should find the following line in the [Default] section:

MENU={switch(*task*)}{shift}{tab}

This enables the menu button to bring up the Windows ALT-TAB task list.

I have this line, and it's working now.
For divx, I reinstalled 5.2.1 instead, so I don't have this stupid icon tray. I really hope that there will be an option to disable it in the futur...

I had the same problem. I would recommend uninstalling the DivX player and instead using the latest stable binary version of Koepi's Xvid bundle here:

http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml

It will install codecs that play DivX and Xvid that do not steal the focus from the remote.

I'm having the loose focus problem, but it's happening with mp3s, not videos (i.e. it's therfore not divx, right?). How can I identify which program is stealing focus so I can kick it into touch.

I've found the quickest fix for me was to set the green button to run gbpvr.exe. Then if it looses focus a quick press brings it back!
