hi!

its my first day using Gbpver and i have to say its mighty impressive. i would love to use it as my HTPC but i really need to be able to use it with girder. i cant seem to find a simple way to change the key commands (for example be able to define that the esc key means back or that the space key means play). im sure that there is a way to do it since all the htpc ive used so far had it. can anyone help?
thx alot in advance

I maybe totally wrong but did you check the KeyMappings directory? The xml files in there appear to be just what you want to change. You can edit them with notepad just be careful of the format.

Of course if I am wrong then don't do this.Rolleyes

At the very least make a copy of whatever file you edit in case it gets totally hosed.

It'll probably be easier for your just to configure Girder to send the correct keystrokes, rather than trying to make GB-PVR use non-standard ones.

Ok I could see that but what do you do if you are using an MCE remote directly, no girder or other program between the remote and gb-prv? Is there something analogous to girders configuration files for the MCE remote? I am using a universal remote to send MCE remote codes but there are a few things I have not been able to find, like F11 (go?). Thanks.

If you're using the MCE remote directly, then its already setup to generate all the correct keystrokes. If you want to customize the MCE to do different functions than those builtin with direct MCE remote support, then you need to look at using third party software like HIP or Girder.

This is a perfect example of where you'd need to use something like HIP or Girder. If you need to have this key generated, the default functionality wont do it for you.

The built in MCE remote is pretty simplistic, and not intended to be highly configurable.

I would highly recommend taking the time to set up and use girder. It only has to be done once and gives you so much more flexibility. I couldn't manage without it!Smile
