Odd Sound Problem

Got a weird problem which I'm certain is not down to gbpvr but something else.

I've just updated to the latest version, downloaded, installed and did my first recording. Picture is fine but the sound distorts a little on certain voices e.t.c

It's very odd, I previously thought it was down the the ariel I was using, but I've just had a new one installed which should make everything crystal.

At any rate I did a recording on the standard settings out of the box, picture is fine but the sound is still distorting. It occurs on livetv as well, so I can switch from channel to livetv output and the one has distortion the other doesn't. I've even played back the recording on my own PC in order to rule out a problem with the TV, again the distortion played back through my PC as well.

Has anyone come across this or have a solution I could try? perhaps the sampling rate/bit rate on the recording? I played around with these a little but I'm no expert so I could be missing something.

Not exactly related to GBPVR but anyone got any ideas?

The only time I have noticed crap sound is if I set the bitrate below 196 for audio. Not sure if this was across all channels but now i keep the bitrate at 196 or above.

Yeah last test I did was at 256 and still had the same problem. It's very irritating, its the only thing keeping the system I've got setup from being perfect.

Perhaps your line in setting is set too high and causing the recorded sound to distort?

I have what I think is the same problem using the Hauppauge 250. Sound goes 'fuzzy' then returns to normalapparently randomly, don't get the same problem in WinTV.

I've just changed the audio decoder from 'System Default' in Playback to 'MPEG audio decoder'. Have you tried changing the audio decoder to something else?

Yes this sounds exactly the same as what your experiencing, unfortunately I am using the mpeg decoding on the 350 for my playback, so I can't really mess about with it in the same way I don't think.

Also the fact that it plays back the same on my pc makes me think it has to be something wrong with the capture rather than the playback. But at the moment I'm still non the wiser. Has the change you made improved the problem?
