Hi sub and everyone.
I’ve been having an intermittent problem deleting files from the video library.
Occasionally I see the error message below, but most of the time the computer beeps, and the MVP locks without an error. Deleting files from “recordings” works perfectly every time.
It happens on the local system with all other network computers shut down, or when deleting a file from another computer on the network.
It almost appears that GBPVR is sending a double request to delete the file. If the error appears and I click OK, the file is deleted and MVP/GBPVR starts responding again.
I’m using the default blue skin and my searches came up empty.

One strange thing I’ve noticed is.
If I delete a file from a network share (from a different computer), and the video being deleted is not on its system drive, but the system drive has been turned off by windows power management. The file will delete before the “system” drive spins up, without an error, every time.

Any help would be appreciated!
TIA

Just incase someone else has this problem in the future….

The responses led me to the conclusion this was a problem unique to my setup. Big Grin
Thinking about the double delete request led me to Net framework 2.0, required by MyGuide.
Removing Net framework 2.0 instantly solved the problem.
Bummer! I really like (need) that Guide…
Anyone know of a guide that works well with GBPVR, or a way to resolve the net 1 & 2 conflict?

Unfortunately the problem was back this morning, so it wasn’t as simple as removing net 2.0. :o

I guess I hadn’t considered the recycler problem some people had reported in a prior release because I’m using 95.16.

From the release notes thread:
“2005-12-8 v0.95.16
- Removed feature that deletes files via the recycle bin. It seems to cause a problem for some users, and I cant be bothered looking into it.”

I monitored file and registry access while deleting three files from the library, the third one reproduced the error.

The log is attached and you can view it with any text editor, but http://www.systeminternals.com “File monitor” works great for viewing the file, and a must have for tracking down stuff like this.

GBPVR.exe created a recycle folder, queried & deleted (moved) the first two files to the recycler where they still remain.
On the third delete request that failed, GBPVR.exe queried “F:\Video Library\Video_TS” (that does not exist on my computer?), and the active users "My Documents"

At that point winlogon.exe played critical stop.wav and windows displayed the error.

Not a big deal because I can manually delete the files at the computer. I guess delete to the recycle bin is still active with Video Library?

Once again this is a wonderful program!
Other than this very minor problem GBPVR is stable as a rock on my system.
Thanks again for all your efforts, and a great program.

PS. please let me know if I'm looking at the wrong thing tracking down this problem. If deleting files from the video library works for you and others, I'll continue looking for what's wrong with my installation.

You're the only v0.95.16 user I've seen indicate this is problem.

Are you positive you're not running an earlier v0.95 release?

Yes, I believe I downloaded it when it first came out. This is what my config.xml shows.

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <settings>
- <!-- ***** Dont ever edit the version number yourself!! You will break the upgrade procedure. *****
-->
<Version>GB-PVR v0.95.16</Version>
- <!-- Decoder/render settings
-->

I see my error.log didn’t attach in the last post, I didn’t check the valid file types.
had to zip it!

Thanks for your help with this.

I also have this problem. And I'm using v0.95.16, which I downloaded when it first came out.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but all of my PVR/video files are on a dedicated 80GB hard drive (DSmile, while the GBPVR software is on my 200GB C: drive.

It's the only real inconvenience/headache I have with this otherwise wonderful application...

S.

PS. Here's a feature request, either way -- the ability to delete an entire Folder from the Video Library! Maybe just empty ones -- I don't know. But it sure would be handy...

Nope, happened to me last night. Same result, mvp locks up, file is not deleted. However, it's doing it to me in the recordings section. I am also running v0.95.16.

The files plugin on the wiki is a decent workaround until this problem is solved..make sure the autoremove line in config.xml is set to true, though.
