There is a thin line (like black/white static) at the top of the screen. It flickers and appears on live tv as well as recordings. It's not that big a deal, but it is noticeable. As far as I've seen, it appears on every channel. Anyone encounter this before and know how to fix it. I have a PVR150 using composite in from a digtal cable STB.

One of the preset aspect ratios seems to crop this out for me. I don't know if that's why it was included, but it works. I'm too lazy to go in and look at the actual aspect definition to see if I'm losing anything else. Just hit f7 a few times.

What you are seeing is actually a digital encoding of the closed captioning text - the text is transmitted using the (normally) not-visible portion of the very top of each scan. Your television cuts this portion of the picture off when you're watching normal television, however your TV card is presenting you with the entire scan of each frame.

You can solve this by defining a custom aspect ratio in config.xml that cuts off just the top one percent of the screen. Use the following values:

0,-0.01,1,1

Several of the pre-defined aspect ratios also remove the top of the screen but remove additional content on the other edges which I find undesirable.

If you need additional help, feel free to message me.

I am experiencing the same issue. When I had this problem in Beyond TV there was a change I could make to the aspect ratio/video overlay that fixed it. I cannot find the config.xml as suggested nor where this aspect ratio might be adjusted. What am I missing?

Thanks. I changed the aspect ratio as noted, and it fixed it in the live tv display. However, when I playback a recorded program, the flickering line shows up. Is there anyway to change the aspect-ratio in the recording itself?

No. There is no way I can tell the capture device not to record this.

config.xml is in your main gbpvr directory (by default: c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr). Look for the <!-- Aspect Ratio settings --> comment
