What i am running:

WinTV PVR 150
Coaixal Cable into my Hughes DirecTV box

Everything had been running fine until a yesterday. I started GPPVR and clicked "live tv" and got just static. I tried updating the EPG and kept getting errors so I re-installed and got the EPG to update. Now instead of static I get the error message, "Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". Does anyone know what might be happening here?

Another little bit of info:

Yesterday when I was getting all the static I tried starting up the Hauppage tv program and got static as well. I uninstalled all the tv card software and reinstalled and still got static. Could my card be messed up?

Thanks so much!

I recommend trying to get it working in the Hauppauge WinTV software first before trying GB-PVR.

Your antenna or cable is plugged in right?

Right, the cable is plugged in. I can't understand why it would just stop working.

I have DishNetwork rather than DirectTV, but I have had a similar experience. I have attributed it to DN changing in my channel lineup. It screws up the EPG and my channel mappings every time. Recently, it seems that DN has changed my channel lineup on an almost weekly basis. Every time they do that I get either static or an error screen (from DN) when I try to view Live TV in GB-PVR.

You can test this by tuning your STB manually and see if you can find channels that work, or failing that, using WinTV and see if it can pick up a signal. If neither work, then try taking your PC out of the system completely and see if you have any signal running your STB directly to your TV. Only after all that checked out would I start uninstalling and reinstalling things.

I got the "Error: No connection could be made..." error today, and upon checking the GB-PVR tray icon found that it thought my DVB source was still recording. I restarted the recording service and the error went away - could be worth checking yours to see if you have the same thing, though of course you have probably run config at least once, so won't be as easy to resolve.
(for the record, the logs show nothing out of the ordinary, the program recording last night as expected, but for some reason the recording source was showing as still in use).

cheers,

tieke
