The tv card is not supported - see this thread.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=WINTV+401

your pc is very low spec. you need 512MB minimum to run gbpvr and to upgrade this pc will mean buying old memory, which you wouldn;t be able to move into a newer pc.

Also, the cpu is well off the pace.

My advice would be to invest your money in a newer pc. Perhaps look at getting a second hand pc with an AMD XP or Pentium 4 cpu.

Wireless might not be a good idea. Check for related posts.

depends what he wants to do with it.

wireless is fine for updating epg and if you get a good 54g connection, is usable for watching recordings. escpecially when the streaming plugin is finished.

If I was buying wireless today I would get pre-N (MIMO) for greater range and speed.

I wouldn't use this PC if I were you. It won't run as well as you would like it to if it runs at all.

I guess what I am saying is, you can't polish a turd. (In a nice way of course. Smile)

so I say "your pc is very low spec" and you chip in with "you can't polish a turd"

I was sure that that k6 wouldnt be able to do much. So im haggling with friend to sell me his AthlonXP 2400, 9600PRO, 512mb 333mhz ram, and his mATX mobo. I wanna use the wireless card to transfer files from my base computer(were i have a great deal of music and videos) into the PVR. And could I get a link on newegg pertaining to which Tuner Card is supported by gbPVR?

that's more like it - virtually the same pc as i have in fact. If you do get this pc, make sure you download the latest ati drivers (6.2?) as they enable you to set the screen resolution to match your broadcasts (720x480 or 720x576)

by "transfer files" do you mean to copy from base pc to pvr pc or perhaps instead to map a drive to the remote (base) pc so you can listen and watch the music and watch videos that are stored on the base pc?

mp3 will stream over wireless well but videos can be a problem (edit; by which mean that on 54g , you may get significant stuttttttering when playing a video that is on a remote server)

copying movies (big files) over a wireless link can take ages and fail on you periodically
