Hi, i just brought the Sapphire ATI 550 PRO with remote, after installation, i run the program and press the LIVE TV, it shows
"No channels have been set up. Please run the configuration utility and set up the EPG source. Use the "Update EPG" button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information"
How can i solve this problem? thx

You need to erun the config app and setup your capture source, including its EPG, so that GB-PVR knows what capture card you have and what channels are available.

Goto the wiki and start reading http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki

You need to set up a capture source.

I'll have a go at explaining this.

Start>Programs>GBPVR>Config
Capture Sources tab>Click Add
Recording Source: Direct Recording Plugin>Click Settings
Capture Card Type - select ATI Theater 550 Pro
Select country
Source: Internal Tuner
Tuning: Cable
Click OK to return to Create Capture Source window
EPG Source> click settings to point to the EPG file if setup or if not using EPG then change EGG source from XMLTV Plugin to None
Click OK to save and exit capture source window
Click OK to save and exit to save and close the config app.

Start>Programs>GBPVR>Tuning Assistant
Card type: ATI Theater 550 pro
Select country
Select "cable"
Click OK
It will start a scan for carrier signals on all the channels for your country. Each time it finds a carrier frequency it will stop and if yout playback settings are correct you should be able to hear audio and all going well also see video. Identify if that is a channel you want and note its channel number. Than click ok again and repeat over and over until the scan is complete, and the final ok will close the app.

Start>Programs>GBPVR>Config
Capture Sources tab>Click edit on the earlier defined capture source
Click the Add button to add a channel
Give it a name and specify the channel number you noted from the Tuning Assistant, and click ok.
Repeat to add more channels
Click OK to save and exit capture source window
Click OK to save and exit to save and close the config app.

Start>Programs>GBPVR>Config
Channels Tab> assign gbpvr channel (preset) numbers and tick Favourite
Click OK to save and exit to save and close the config app.

Reboot PC to apply settings

Now launch gbpvr and click LiveTV and you should see the first channel and be able to change channels. If you don't see channels go into config Misc tab and untick Live Preview mode, and if that still doesn't work check that you have an MPEG2 decoder installed and selected in the playback settings. You should have the cyberlink video and audio decoders available by default due to installing PowerCinema.

The above configuration settings are for a fairly basic setup. They can be significantly improved once you know what you are doing.

Best of luck.

I'm not in front of my HTPC to quote the exact setting, but in the Config app there is a tab where you select the type of remote control, and you should select "MCE Remote". This will work for the Cyberlink remote that comes with the Sapphire 550 package.

Ok, so gbpvr is responding to the remote by displaying the desired channel number, which is good. GBPVR references this to the channel number listed in the config app channels tab. Check that the channel numbers listed in the channels tab are the numbers you wish to use on the remote (I think they start numbering from 100 upwards on the channels tab, so you need to renumber them to start at one).
