I have everything all set up, but it seems as though t he GBPVR spfdtware wont link up with the MVP because the MVP cannot find servers. I have it connected to the computer directly with a crossover cabel. I'm just wondering if possibly it's not working because it has to be hooked up directly through the router for it to work. Is that why it isn't working or should it work this way? please let me know.

You can use a cross over cable, but to boot an MVP it also needs a DHCP server. The Hauppauge software includes a DHCP server, but the GB-PVR software doesnt so relies one being somewhere on your network or PC in this case.

well right now I have wireless internet set up on the desktop with a wireless router and a wireless card. I have the media MVP hooked up through a crossover cable, but i believe the reason I cant get the gbpvr to link up and take over the MVP per say I will need to hook it up differently. I'm thinking I will have to run wires up from the router to do it, but if anyone can give me an easier way let me know. Thanks guys!

Most common problem is a Firewall:

See http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/MVP for General Setup and
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/MVP#toc2 for Firewall Specifics

If the answer is Yes then it's a DHCP issue.
