Hello

I've just got a Hauppage MediaMVP yesterday. It's working with the Hauppage software but that software seems quite limited.

Unfortunately when I install GBPVR I get a config.exe crash immediately post install (not details are available) and everything else I attempt crashes as well. I've never seen a GBPVR UI as yet, even when I tried using it before I had the MediaMVP.

I can't seem to find a how-to set up GBPVR for an MVP amongst the Wiki or these forums. Am I missing something?

Where to from here?

sounds like microsoft .net v1.1 runtime is not installed...
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. So good to know one is not alone when first impressions of new toys are not so good Smile

Sorry for lack of detail, normally I provide too much Smile

ASUS A7V Athlon 1.2 Ghz, 512 MB, Compro VideoMate DVB-T300, GeForce2 MX 64MB, Windows XP SP2 + all automatic updates, Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0

Compro software runs fine as long as I don't try playing HDTV as obviously the above specs don't cover for HDTV too well.

At this point don't really care about the TV, just want to browse and play DivX / XviD (mp4 generally) files on tv via Hauppage remote. Latest Hauppage beta does not let me do that as it presents an insulting warning about my CPU being too slow (if I can play DivX through normal means, CPU should be ok?).

Please let me know if there's anything else I can tell you.

I take there isn't a general set-up how-to?

thats it. you _have to_ use ms .net framework 1.1.
2.0 wont work

As betlit said you need .net 1.1. .net 2.0 alone will not cut it.

Hmm, never had any idea that 2.0 is not backwards compatible?

Downloading now.

Do I have to run 1.1 by itself or can I run both versions?

[Update]

Hang on, please forget below, I've not run the config utility yet (it's late i Melbourne, brain fading ...).

---------------

OK, installed .Net 1.1 over top/alongside of .Net 2.0 and I am now getting both the normal GB-PVR program running and the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server process running.

However I'm not seeing anything on my TV.

Should I still see the Hauppage boot-up screens if GB-PVR MediaMVP Server process is running when I power up the MediaMVP unit?

ok walked through the config tool and I must say, highly impressive UI and reliability. Compared to Media Portal, this software is rock solid and seems sensibly laid out.

Unfortunately though, I still don't have anything to see on the TV.

The next problem might be that when running the BDA Mux Checker I get the following error:

"NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE."

I'm still primarily interested in getting an interface on the TV before I worry about pumping any digital TV through that interface, however maybe the BDA Mux issue is not isolated to digital TV? Maybe it's part of the reason I don't get any GB-PVR interface on the TV at the moment?

Thanks again for all help so far, would be stuck without it.

With that I'll have to head to bed then work. Hope to 'see' you guys tomorrow night

Hi,
I understand that it is through the MVP you don't see anything.
In that case have you checked the setting in config under MVP tab.
You need to set number of MVP to autostart to 1.
Hope this helps
