Hi,
Just got an M34A today, I'm a bit surprised at how long it takes to start up, around a minute just to get to the start screen, let alone to get in to GBPVR.

Is this normal, can it me made to go faster?

It seems a bit excessive seeing as my ancient MVP can get in to GBPVR in around 10 seconds.

Wow, people complain about just about everything. Most people never fully power off ie unplug their MVP so it is not a direct comparison. If you don't want to do a full power off, just exit to the main NMT software.

I just wanted to check I didn't have a faulty unit, or if I'd missed some setup option. Will follow your suggestion and exit to the NMT software.

The reason the EGreats do full hardware power off and not just go into a standby state like the Popcorn Hours was because of complaints the the PCH's didn't do a power off and the company considered this an benefit. It is tough to meet everyone's needs.

I actually recommend full power off, to save the 6 or 7W that they draw. Every little bit helps.

I am with JP on this one. It feels like a lifetime to get into GBPVR for an ex-MVP user. But it is normal.
However, just exiting to the NMT interface is not really an option if you have mvpmcx2 on autostart. Furthermore, turning the EG34a of is not a full hardware power off, there is another hardware switch on the unit itself. Even then the switched power supply continues to draw a few milliwatts

I just did a test and it takes longer to load the mvpmc dongle from full power on than it does load the PCH. It's also your choice to use autostart with just a short start up time that you can't exit it.

I could have put a shell that allows a fake power off in between the PCH and emulation mode to save you guys a few seconds, but the work isn't that rewarding anyway. I've probably done more full power restarts that all GBPVR users combined, and I haven't complained.

The PCH full powerup is a little painful with HDMI as mine spends all its time with the poor TV saying "no signal" until thevery last step, all the other outputs other than HDMI at least show the popcorn loading screen. Mind you the last time mine powercycled was some weeks ago.
It doesn't worry me in the least.
However, having to hit the "any key" after the server wakes up to get to the pch menu ........

I agree the HDMI handshaking is one of the NMT weaknesses, but I can't say it is great on my ION either. Component video is always an option if you really need to see the Popcorn screen at boot.
