Sometimes I need to stop the GBPVR service so that I can use the computer for other things. Like its my only computer with a DVD burner. So I stop it so my dvd's burn correctly. So I will use the stop service in the start menu to stop it, and then use the restart service to get it going again. But if I do it this way. It will not record a show. I have to acually reboot my computer to get it back to normal. If i just use the restart service in the start menu, It will say that it is sleeping in the tray. So I am wondering if there is a actual way to see if the service is running. Because the tray icon running doesn't acually mean the service is running. I have missed many shows because I forgot to reboot it, But did use the restart service. Thanks.

Easy.

From control panel, administrative tools, services, see if the recording service is started or alternatively from a cmd prompt, just type NET START <enter>

Or press ctrl-alt-delete to bring up the windows tasklist, check the processes tab to see if GBPVRRecordingService.exe is listed.

How about in the system part of the gui, have a place to check if the service is running. Sence just having that gui up doesn't mean that your shows are going to be recorded. Or even in the main screen where if shows info about shows and upcoming recordings if it could flash a "Service not started" if it isnt running. Thanks.

I have no problem seeing if it started or not. I reproduced the problem (took a few tries). This is what happens, it is not a situation that would occur very likely probably.
While a show is recording, I make some changes in config, click ok, screen comes up asking if I'm sure etc etc, ok again, then recordingservice does not restart at all, it stops completely. What is confusing is that the tray-icon stays green, suggesting that it is still recording. If i right-click restart recording on thye tray-icon, everything is fine again.
As I said before: a bit of a theoretical problem:o
I probably suffer from the same problem as Wannabepvr: BoredomBig Grin
