I did some big upgrades, running Twinhan Vp-3021 DVB-T and now the video stream (even playing previously recorded stuff) hesitates, just a bit to make it annoying. It's really noticable watching sports, or news/credits with smooth scrolling text (the real test!)

OK, I did new NVIDIA drivers for my G-Force MX 440 (composite output to tv)
New BDA drivers from Twinhan (this was a pain but I eventually got them in)
And then upgraded to the latest GBPVR

Love the new features, channel changing and everything is much nicer but this video problem is a pain. I have tried every variation of VRM 9/7 and overlay modes, some work as 16:9, some force 4:3 but either way the video is... slow. I am preferring VRM7 now, but used overlay before.

When I browse the Web TV guide from another machine, the TV really hesitates noticably which is the wierdest part.

System performance, while watching live TV is running at abouyt 50% (and doesnt really go over that).

So any suggestions? I think it's more the video card performance/driver than the app itself. I quickly run up the original Twinhan tv program and it seemed to do it too but I went through all the nvidia options and couldnt see anything that might help.

Again thanks for the new program and congrats on "release 2.0" Sub.

BFN, Rex.

Did you change decoders? When I use intervideo decoders, scrolling text is a pain, but using cyberlink decoders it works much better (however, using cyberlink I get problems with sound sync... so it's a lose-lose situation for me there... Wink
I'm not always right

I installed the H! Decoder in a vain attempt to get something else working and even though it wasn't the PREFERED decoder, it hosed up my replay. I uninstalled that decoder and all is well again. I'm using the Nvidia Pure Video Decoder 30 day trial.

Also, what are the specs on your PC? Are you running Hyperthreading? If so, a report of 50% CPU load is actually fully loaded as 99% of applications today are not written to be multithreaded.

I tried all the decoders (I have installed) the 'Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder' is my best selection (I dont have the intervideo available) and also selected the Cyberlink audio and my soundcard for audio rendering (rather than the default/direct) audio all works/syncs ok, other than the video pausing prob. Using MPG2 audio codec does cause an audio sync/delay prob.
Even ABC2 works/syncs now too which is a plus, this has been a problem for me (and others) here in Aus.

I have a 1.7G Intel, it's been able to cope ok before these upgrades, and Hyperthreading, will have to check on that. I can get the processor load over 50% (like when I boot the manager/apps) but when doing normal video watching and accessing the web svr it keeps well below 60%.

I seemed to notice similar problems just watching some AVI video (through Powerdvd) last night, so I will look into the video drivers more (it seems to be a common video prob more than GBPVR now although I think that's more pushing the limits), may try that NVIDIA pure video you suggested SuperG, might just flow better through the muxer links... (I am a bit confused by all the codec/muxer stuff still and seeing/changing settings).

Those and any other tips are still appreciated.
Rex.

I think I have it!

I installed NVIDIA Purevideo (trial) but ended up reverting to the Overlay manager (as apposed to VMR7) and set Vid-Dec to Default, Aud-Dec to default and the Aud-Renderer to DIrectSound Soundmax (cause I was getting audio sync probs after a while.

With this the video is smooth (very smooth) and it doesnt hesitate or pause at all when i access the web svr in the background.

Yay, thanx for the tips all and again, great product, can't move away from windows/gbpvr else I would have MythTV setup by now. Ah well will see how I go with a new plasma (soon) and doing direct input avoiding composite.
