I swapped a 160 gig hdd with a 300 gig hdd. I copied everything from the 160 to the 300. Now when I go to recordings in gbpvr, nothing shows up. I added the folder to the video library and all of my recordings show up. Can someone tell me what is going on?

I "think" the utility MpegImport might save you.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...MpegImport

Otherwise try

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...recordings
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...recordings

Search also for lost recordings, there's a few people in the same boat.

Cheers

recordings information is stored in the database. Par tof this information is the path of the recording. GBPVR will sence if a file is missing and auto delete the info from the DB if it is missing. I suspect your new drive has a different reference letter than the old drive. Thus GB thought the files no longer existed and deleted then from the DB. You can export the recordings from the DB into an XML file and import the XML back into the DB from the config app. Check your GBPVR dir to see if the recordings XML file exists. Sorry I can't think of the exact file name at the moment. If it does you're in luck. Use search and replace to change the old directory to the new and import back into the DB. If it doesn't exist there are tools on the WIKI that will populate the DB with mpg files in a specific drive. I don't think you'll get the descriptions using this method but it's better than nothing.

Hope this helps

The code make sense to me. It keeps the database clean (maybe too clean). Maybe there could be a config option to turn it off and on.

I like the logic. It works well for how I use things. That said, if it doesnt suit you, you can already disable it by setting the following in config.xml:

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

I like the default operation because I edit and delete recordings over the network.

But GBPVR allows only one Recordings folder.
If it doesn’t find the folder set in config.xml it should report an error, not delete all the recordings from the database without warning.

Can't you use this to reimport the recordings? I used this 3 days ago when I reformatted my media harddrive. Took a back up of all the contents, reformatted, put back the content. Went into config under plugins tab and clicked import recordings.Voila! I believe the the rcordings-dump file is updated at the same time as EGP update Correct Sub?

I just used the recording-dump.xml file successfully as #66 stated. There was one recording from this morning that wasn't there, but I successfully got all my child's Blue's Clues back for her after replacing my hard drive (40 GB not sufficient - hopefully 400 GB will last a bit).
