I'm sorry if this information is already in this forum but I wasn't able to find either of my questions in here ... there are quite a few posts here.

The PVR hardware that I am using is the 150-MCE which includes the microsoft remote and ir blaster. I am in the process of figuring out hip and I am getting somewhere with that.

My first problem that I am having is that the remote skips. Instead of just moving one space it moves two ... makes it a little hard to do anything. If I even click on ok on the remote it does it twice instead of once. I am not sure why that is.

The other problem is that when I set GB-PVR to record a show it doesn't change the channel to the proper one. It just seems to leave off with the last channel that you were on.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.Big Grin

This sounds to me like you are using both HIP and ir32.exe. Try to see if ir32.exe (or ir.exe) is running on your machine, and stop and disable it if it is.

I tried what you suggested during lunch ... ir.exe isn't there. So it's not that. It stops skipping when I turn off HIP ... I don't know where I could change that from within HIP. Or maybe it's something from within gb-pvr that is taking in the regular commands and the HIP commands?

how are you using HIP, are you using it with the driver that came with your remote, or with the alternative driver and HIPs MCE plugin?

This page has lots of info on the alternative driver. You may want to clarify exactly which model of the MCE remote you have first though, which may help diagnose your problem. take a look at this page on the wiki.

I am using the same remote driver that came with the system. The only driver actually that seems to be installed is the one for the ir receiver ... ehome or something like that.

As for the remote itself it is the Hauppauge MCE Remote.

I think I might have found out the problem ... can't test it out until I get home from work. If I clear out the buttons in HIP that work in gb-pvr ... maybe that will solve my problem ... maybeRolleyes

Yeah... I missed the part where you wrote that you use the microsoft remote... you wouldn't have the ir32.exe, since that is the software for the hauppauge remote... :p

Okay I have fixed the problems that I was having with HIP by removing the alternate input values. Now I have a problem with the mce ir blaster. I know that only port 2 work on the blaster. I am able to have it show a red blip when I test out the blaster ... but it doesn't do anything to my stb. I'm not sure why this is.

My ir blaster, like I stated earlier, is the MCE version that comes with the PVR-150. My stb is a scientific atlanta 2100 ... I also have a stb that is a scientific atlanta 2200. I don't think that there is much difference between the two. I don't know if there is a setting within HIP that will make one of those boxes work, but any help will be greatly appreciated.Big Grin

I think you have the Hauppauge version of the MCE remote, not the Microsoft's. I had this, and I had to follow the instruction in the HIP Guide to a tee... It worked fine. You really should use the altenate driver though. That's what fixes that double click issue.

The HIP guide tells you how to use your STB's remote control, to teach HIP the STB codes. Then it is able to control the STBs without the STB remotes. Teach Hip, and then put away the STB remote...

For the IR blaster, placement is everything. If you use the little test thing in HIP, you can have it cycle every second for example and move the blaster around until it changes the channels. BTW you need to aim the blaster sticky side to the IR sensor, and you must remove the tape while trying...

Hope this helps

I will try that when I go home for lunch. I've tried removing the tape and placing it right over the receiver of the stb and nothing. Maybe I'll remove the plastic that covers up the receiver and see if it works with it right on top of it. I think when I tried that though I was using the 1st port instead of the second port on the beanbag.

Hopefully this will work because I have tried the others out there and this is the one that I keep coming back to ... one it's the forum ... two it's everything that you are able to add to it. The picture quality is great.

Oh and one more question ... at least for now.Wink
I have an old tv that my PVR is hooked to. GB-PVR extends past the screen area. Is there a location where I can try and fix this problem? I know with SageTV I am able to stretch out the display or shrink it down to fit my tv better. I do not know of a place within GV-PVR to do this.

you might find settings within your video driver software for this if its a system-wide problem.
Go to Control Panel > display > Tab:Settings > Button:Advanced
and depending on your video card you might find sonething in there refering to screen area or overscan etc which you can play with.

GBPVR specific settings can be defined in the config.xml.
find the line:

<!-- overscan control (zoom is floating point: 1.0 is fullsize), offset is integer (pixels)) -->

and the eight lines under that define what area of the screen GBPVR fills.
