Hello,

I'm wondering if there's a way to have more characters displayed in the short description of a broadcast. What I mean is, when you click on any given show in the tv guide, it opens a window that contains a short description of the show - but it cuts off hard after a couple of words.

I would really like to have more of the short description displayed in this window. Can I do anything about that by myself?

Thanks and regards,
Frank

It only keeps the first 256 characters of the description, but it may not showing it all.

I'm not sure which skin you're using, but I'm sure your could modify it make the maximum 256 characters all visible.

Thank you Sub - however I think I see the first 256. But that's not enough for me. I would have nothing against the splash screen covering more of the screen, and in turn display more characters. Can this be adjusted somehow, somewhere?

Regards,
Frank

GB-PVR doesnt keep more than 256 characters, so there is no way to see more than this.

Start by changing the field type and store more than 256 characters... Wink

What frustrates me is that with the UK Radio Times listings, more often than I would like, the first 256 characters are someone's opinion of the cast and direction and tell me *nothing* about the plot.

Here is a wonderful example of such utter useless bullshit, first what I get in GBPVR:-

"A routine range war western, despite talented Argentinian director Hugo Fregonese's attempts to make something more of the territorial theme. The cast is headed by Joseph Cotten and Shelley Winters, both of whom convey the impression that they would rath"

Mind you, the full description isn't that much more useful:-

"A routine range war western, despite talented Argentinian director Hugo Fregonese's attempts to make something more of the territorial theme. The cast is headed by Joseph Cotten and Shelley Winters, both of whom convey the impression that they would rather be somewhere else. Keep your eyes peeled for future western stars Lee Van Cleef and Fess Parker; there's certainly nothing in the script worthy of attention. Even western fans may feel that this is as much of a chore to watch as the cast and crew obviously felt it was to make. The Technicolor's nice, though."

Smile

AFAIK, the 256 character limit is an ms access .mdb field limit, and couldn't be extended anyway.

Some of the BaseSkin ThemePacks have OSD skin that shows all 256 chars.
Try SharperEdge theme if you want max description.

Sure it can, just don't use the txt type field Smile

Another way would be to use 2 x 256 text fields and concatenate the two strings.

I'm not complaining, I was just pulling Sub's leg.
