I have the below Hauppauge, that has inputs for external signal (S-Vid/Composite, R+L). How can I use them with GBPVR?
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

You have to create an extra capture source for the device, setup to use svideo or composite.

(wow, you're fast).
I guess - "S-Video, External Tuner" ? (any reason why there are 2 s-vid and 3 comp,?)

Ok, now how do I switch to it with GBPVR?

Yes.

Some devices have multiple inputs

You need to either setup the EPG for the channel, or at least manually add a channel (ie 'AV1' or 'SVIDEO'), then you'll see it listed as a normal channel.

Sounds great. Will try now.
(leave it on Capture Device #1 for all of them?)

I think there's a problem - when trying to select anything other then "Medium Quality", press Ok, open the window again and it shows "Medium".

You misunderstand what this setting is for. Its just used for editing each of the quality profiles. Its not used to set the default profile.

Ah, OK, sorry for that. I just assumed that because it appears with the capture source, it's kind of selecting the default quality for that source. Ignore then...

Composite video in works. Although now I think I have PAL/NTSC issues, but that's another story...

P.S: Can I use those two "virtual" channels without them appearing in the Guide? as there is no info for them in the guide (the idea is to connect external players, e.g CamCorder), if the cursor is moved to those lines in the guide it can be quite annoying (it disapears).
I would like not to see those channels in the guide (they somehow appear first, even though I named one 998 and one 999). But I would like to be able to "dial" to them (using 998/999 numbers or similar method) or to page to them (ch up/down). Possible?

No, you cant do this. GB-PVR is designed for recording tv shows from channels, regardless of whether they're through tuner or svideo or composite. It expects there to be tv listings for any channels you create. Its not designed for dubbing tapes or recording game consoles. You're better off using other software for these sorts of tasks.

Pity... I'm not going to dub or record. I was looking into having it as my main interface for all media and entertaiment. Like the TV in the old days... you could scroll with the remote to different channels of the tuner, and also to some other inputs. As I am exhausting the inputs on the TV and there is a free one on the Hauppauge, I thought that the GBPVR will be the front end to tuner or other inputs.

I guess I can live with it. Smile
