I have an AMD 64 3200+ with 2 GB of DDR RAM and the GeForce 7600GT. I'm using the Hauppauge PVR-150. My question is this. I usually have GBPVR asleep in my task bar. I'll be playing a game (most recently Call Of Duty 2) and when GBPVR starts to record TV the sound becomes static and then I get a blue screen and have to do a hard restart of the system. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm hopeing its just a setting somewhere but I haven't been able to figure it out.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried setting a recording up, closing GBPVR and then playing a game. GBVPR's "recording service" will still be running and so hopefully record.

Must say tho-recording a show and playing a modern game may be a bit much. I'm a gamer myself and games really do take your system.

Yeah, I've tried that and got the same results. I'm thinking it has something to do with the Audio drivers or processors (I'm new to GBPVR and am still figuring out how it works). In my system I'm using the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro. Only reason I think its the audio that is causing this is because the audio is the first thing to crap out on me. Is there some setting in GBPVR to select audio processors while recording (or something along those lines)? Maybe changing the bit rate? I'm not sure if that would have an effect or not but I don't even know where to change that.
Also, I've noticed that it is not with all games. When I play Tomb Raider: Legend or Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion I dont have any problems. very odd and very frustrating.
Thanks

sub would need to say, but I don't think the sound or vid card do anything while recording, nor are any codecs used. Those items only kick in when you watch what you record.

My suggestion would be to try new 150 drivers. I have had drivers for that card that, when a recorded started, could kill the audio or freeze the system.

Also try checking for drivers for the sound and vid card. If you just updated and this started, try rolling back to the previous version.

No, it doesnt use any while recording.

Maybe your soundcard and PVR150 are sharing an IRQ, and this is causing problems for the soundcard drivers?

I'll try updating the 150 drivers and the sound card drivers and look into the IRQ after work. thanks for the help, I'll keep this up to date with my progress.
