Playing DVR-MS files over GB-PVR Web Console

I am trying to play recordings on another LAN based PC using the GB-PVR WEB interface. I can see the recordings and download them, but if try to use the "Play now" option. It askes me whether I want to open or save the relevant "M3U" file. It then tries to open with media player 10 and I get the following error message.

"A plug-in is required to correctly play the file. To determine if the plug-in is available to download, click Web Help"

I'm using 2 Hauppauge HVR-1300 freeview tuners (creates DVR-MS format recordings). What plug-in is it looking for and where can I get it ? Thanks for Help !!

The 'play now' feature is designed to work with VLC, not Windows Media Player, but I dont know if it copes with DVR-MS or not. Its not something I've ever tried.
