Hi all,

For now apparent reason I suddenly get the following error when i try to update my EPG from XML tv listings, both automatically and manually:

"Failure in ChannelFactory:ConfusedtoreChannels():Invalid Argument.

i'm using v0.96.12 and have succesfully updated from this EPG source several times in the past.

Any ideas?

If your gbpvr.mdb is really large, try clicking the OK button in the config app.

The OK button? Can you be a little more specific?

What constitutes a big MDB file? I doubt mine is big as it has only been installed a few months and I'm not a heavy user --- a few recordings a week. Have quite a few MP3s, not sure if they get added to the database.

No plugins currently in use.

Thanks for the help

When you start the config app, the OK button is shown at the bottom of the config app window.

Yours cant be that big then, or you didnt check. Most people I ask this question respond with something like - "my god, it was 2GB", which most people manage to guess is big. At a around 2GB, it stops functioning. You can reach this pretty quickly if you've got lots of TV channels.

It doesnt matter that you're not a big user, MDB files only ever grow, and never shrink, and the never reclaim unused space, so they can grow at an astounding rate.

When you click the OK button in the config app, it attempts to compact the database.

There are some improvements in v0.97.7 to help with this problem (ability to switch to SQLite instead of Access).

Thanks for the reply once again.

The database size is the problem, attempting to compact it doesnt appear to solve the problem. (I didnt have time to check the machine previously being out of town).

I'm quite happy to go with a version upgrade however I'd just like to query the state of play with MVP playback. I've read about a few bugs and noticed a few patches posted, have these been integrated with the downloadable release as it stands?

Are there any other bugs that would limit MVP usage or that require obscure work arounds?

Cheers again for your help.

Steve

PS I know that i should be backing up config.xml and the database...but surely that will defeat the object of the upgrade? How can i save my current settings and still have a nice working install? (sorry if this has been answered elsewhere)

Manually running the JetComp utility in the GB-PVR directory to see if it can compact it.

I only recommend that in case anything goes wrong. You dont need to anything with these, except take a copy of them. Usually the files are not needed again.
