Compaq 1.8ghz pent., WinXP Pro, 512Kmem, low end vidcard, PVR350

Regarding this WIKI stmt in the Error msg section:
"The default is “live preview” which does not record, but this is not compatible with the specialist hardware decoders (MVP, XCard or PVR350), so these devices are permanently stuck in “timeshift mode”. There is no way around this. "

I have a PVR350 and am getting slow performance when viewing on TV due to this time shift auto-record feature. I do have the PVR350 set to not display on PC monitor.

I'm Inquiring if there yet any way I can force this to be turned off, that is enforce Live Preview mode with a PVR350. GBPVR for TV viewing is just not usable which is disappointing after spending $$ and building up this PC exactly for this use in our living room. Changes I could fairly easily make is a video card upgrade (if < $100) or Memory or reinstalling with WinXP Home not Pro

Thanks Much for suggestions

Sorry, the PVR350 is not able to do this. If you need to use live preview mode, then you need a regular video card.

OK, Thanks for the confirm just the same. The Video card recommendation would be a TV tuner type to replace my PVR350? Any recommendations on a brand model thats affordable and will work adequately with my PC setup?
May do a Cr.List or Ebay sell & buy to solve this one.

Thx

No, you'd need a separate video card and capture device. Your PVR350 could continue to perform the rolve of capture device.

No, I dont have a recommendation for you, but this has been discussed lots of times before. The forum search should find this for you.

OK Thanks, the video card research & shopping will commence soon (with a $75 budget meaning a $150 Nvidia based card with a good markdown)
