I get some of my channels via antenna and some via the output of a Sky Satellite Digibox.
I feed the Digibox composite output to the 'Composite In' on my Hauppauge WinPVR350. It seems I have to set up two separate 'Direct Recording Plugin' settings - one for my Antenna RF sources, and another one for the Composite Input. I will be setting up an MCE Remote with IR blasters.
Will I still be able to automatically schedule recordings from both inputs using the EPG and have GB-PVR select the required source and change the Digibox channels? If not I presume the only way around this is to use the RF out of the Digibox, with the inevitable loss of quality.
On the quality issue, I have excellent recording quality using the Hauppauge Win2000 software - Can I expect the same quality from GB-PVR with the same compression settings?
I also seem to have messed up the channel list on my EPG. I had it working fine, but while making some 'improvements' I seem to have added the channels again and now have many duplicate channels and an error message that pops up when I scroll through them - 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object'. How do I clear out the problem and start again? I'm using XMLTV GUI and it saves the updated channel data to file. I've tried all the options I can see like 'Update EPG' 'Clear EPG' and the two command line options referred to in the FAQ. I still end up with one listing in the EPG and the duplicate channels seem to be there. Tried 'Repair' too without success. Is there any way to just renew the whole EPG component?
And finally, what are the strongest arguments to move to the latest version of GB-PVR, if the Photo Library is not a big concern. I've seen lots of postings about problems with the new version and am a little wary, but don't want to end up down a blind alley by committing to the older .96 version. I'll be using two MediaMVP units and it seems there are some improvements in areas like Aspect Ratio with v. .97.
Can anyone confirm if the MCE Remote 2005 is directly supported for STB channel changing with V. .97, or do I still have to go the HIP route?
Thanks.
