Can't play wmv files in gbpvr after updating to wmp10

Thanks Sub for a great program.

I am having a minor problem. GB-PVR will not play any wmv files in the Video Library Plugin after I updated from windows media player 9 to 10. The wmv files that I am trying to play do not have drm. They play fine in windows media player 10.

I'm using gbpvr 97.7 with a modified gbpvr.exe file which Sub made available to fix DVD playback locking up GBPVR. For details see http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16173 .

I am using nvidia purevideo decoder with VMR9 but have tried System Default decoder and overlay with no luck.

If you look through the logs you will see that each of the wmv files is immediately stopped. Also, in the log you can see that I played a mpeg file which seemed to play fine.

I know its not particularly helpful, but it sounds like something screwy with your Windows or WMP setup. I'm using WMP10 and can play WMV files just fine in GB-PVR.

Wow, thanks for the quick response. I was afraid of that. I will look into it some more and if I figure it out I will post the fix to this thread.

I fixed the problem.

When I installed windows media player 10 the 1st time my firewall prevented the setup program from communicating over the internet so apparently something didn't get installed correctly. So when I went to install it the second time I made sure it could communicate over the internet. Now wmv file play fine in gbpvr.
