Could someone maybe give me some suggestions on why I have such poor quality while watching live or recorded shows on my monitor? I have checked all the connections and they seem to be fine. I dont beleive there is a problem with the cable feed because the room nextdoor to me has perfect quality on their TV. I cant think that it is the software but I am running it through GB-PVR. What else could it be? I am using a WIN TV- PVR 150 could the card be busted? Thanks in advance.

Which video card do you have connected to the monitor?

Edit: And which decoder are you using?

I cant recall the name of the video card but it is decent enough for me to play games like Warcraft III and Call of Duty 2. I am really computer iliterate, but by decoder do you mean the service who provides me the channel guide? If so I am using Zap2it. Thanks for your help.

elite means:

Which Videodecoder are you using? Which one did you have installed and which one are you using? Look into GB-PVR config under Playback. Is there System Default?
Then you have to find out, which CoDec (Decoder) you have installed and which one you're using.
You can see a few, if you look into the dropdown menu within the config->Playback.

So for hardware decoder, I have it set to none, I can select Haupage PVR 350, or Sigma Designs Xcard, and as for software playback they are all set to default.

For Video I can chose: InterVideo Non CSS decoder... or Nero Video Decoder. I wont go into the options for audio, because thats fine.

I hope this helps what you are trying to get me to find.
Thanks for your time and patience guys.

I believe your problem may be caused by poor deinterlacing which causes soft edges (lack of fine detail) and blurred motion. You need spatial-temporal (motion-vector) adaptive deinterlacing. This is implemented as hardware deinterlacing on mid-range and upwards video cards. If your video card supports this, then you need to configure your video decoder to use it.

What video card are you using?

Is your monitor an LCD? (these are sensitive to pixel resolution and prone to slow pixel response times)

My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 and no my monitor is not an LCD monitor. I set it to Intervideo and that helped a little bit, but it is still fuzzy, is there any more tweaking that can be done? Thanks for your patience guys.

Ok, your key limiting factor will be the monitor pixel response time. If you have a page of text on the screen (eg MS Word document) and you use the vertical scroll bar to move the text up and down the screen really fast, does the text blur, change colour, or both?

You also need to set your screen resolution to match the LCD native resolution (physical pixels on the screen) to provide a sharp clear picture.

Your video card does support hardware deinterlacing. The Intervideo decoder settings are configured in the registry. The registry settings I have are for the Intervideo WinDVD decoder, so I'm not 100% sure it will work for the Hauppauge Intervideo non-CCS decoder, but have a try and see. "ubu" knows what the correct registry settings are.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo\Common\VIDEODEC\GBPVR]
"BOBWEAVE"=dword:00000000
"DXVA"=dword:00000001
"HWMC"=dword:00000001
"NVMCP"=dword:00000001
"VMR"=dword:00000002
"HwColor"=dword:00000001

You also need to set the screen refresh rate to exactly 60Hz for NTSC or 50Hz for PAL. Different refresh rates make the video "appear" to studder.

EDIT:
The registry path should show "VIDEODEC" as one word with no spaces (the forum server keeps adding a space?)
