I can't seem to get SBE to work. I just get a black screen. Sub says it's likely a codec issue...some work with SBE & some don't. I'm using the InterVideo codes that (I assume) came with WinDVD4. I don't know that I have any others to try. So, what's a good one and where can I get it (preferably a freebie)? What are y'all using that works well? Any advice will be appreciated...

The main two I use are "Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder" (VMR) installed with the Hauppauge software, and "Cyberlink Video Decoder" (Overlay) which is installed by PowerDVD. These of these should work fine with SBE. If these dont work for you, send your log files to me at support@devnz.com and I'll try to work out what is happening.

SBE also requires WinXP SP1 or higher to run.

Stream Buffer Enginer.

Its the components that Microsoft uses for MCE. It allows for FF/RW an on live tv etc, which their normal directshow components dont. It'll also start MPEG playback with less data (faster channel changes).

Sub,

Is there something equivalent to SBE in Windows 2000 Professional? Or can SBE be installed in Win2K pro? If it speeds channel changes, is that only with the PC client or would it speed channel changes on the MVPs as well?

SBE was introduced in WinXP SP1, but I have heard some people did get it going on windows 2000 by copying two dlls over and running regsvr32.exe on them.

I'm sure if these posts still exist. I read them in the gottv forum in the myHTPC forums. This of course has now changed to a commercial project called meedio, and I think they've deleted the gottv forum and all these old posts.

Sub,

Thanks for the info. Do you think it would speed channel changes on the MVP?
