I am running into problems recently of DVDs that I have been buying, that I want to rip into VideoArchiver. The problem is that there are just too many DVDs that DVDDecryptor can't do anymore. Even a kids DVD I got my 2 year old son for christmas, I still haven't figured out how to rip successfully. Has anyone else figured out a method to rip a DVD to MP2 like VA. I have found tools that can decode, but don't create the 2 mpg files that besweet needs for the next step.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

Have you tried dvdfab-decryptor: http://www.dvdidle.com/nl/index.htm
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Yes, but that just decrypts the VOB file onto the drive. I just can't figure out how to go to the next step. If I could get DVDdecryptor for load from a directory, then I could still use it as well to create the mp2 files and strip unwanted parts.

After using dvdfab-decryptor, how to I make an mpg file from it like dvd2mpg does?

If you can find some better tool that can decrypt the file and demux the streams you might be able to simply configure the dvd2mpeg plug-in to use its command line instead of dvddecrypter for the first step of the process.

I'm not that familiar with these tools. With dvd2mpg, there were three applications.

1. DVDDecryptor
- decrypts
- takes only main movie
- demuxes
2. Besweet
- convert audio file AC3 to MP2
3. Cuttermaran
- mux audio and video into single mpg file

2 and 3 are still ok, but dvdfab-decryptor only decrypts and not sure if it has comand-line arguments. I still needs tools from CLI to strip VOB files down to main movie and demux audio and video.

Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

I haven't tried it yet, but http://www.ripit4me.org/ says "Recently released DVDs are now very often equipped with stronger copy protections - such as ARccOS™ and RipGuard DVD. Programs like DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter cannot handle these types of discs.

With the help of RipIt4Me, ripping these DVDs will be a very easy task. The program is fully automated and the wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps involved. If you prefer, there is also a true "1-Click" mode that will perform all the involved steps automatically for you."
