Noob here - great software if only I can get this last feature to work!!!

Got the EPG recording progs great. But I can't get a recorded program to play when its in dvr-ms format?!

Its not a bitrate problem as mpgs play at high bit rates - 2-3000. Its a 54G network with full signal between the router and server and the MVP is wired to the router.

What am I doing wrong with the transcode??? All I get is a blank screen, an occasional play icon and often a resetting MVP and connecting servers...

I'm using an HVR-900 and have tried transcode delays up to 11000. It can't be a PC issue as I'm using a dual core opteron 165 oc'd to 2.4ghz with a gig of ram, a 250g spinpoint sata data drive with a seagate baracuda sata os drive!!!

Any suggestions much appreciated,

Cheers.

I just checked and the transcode delay works as expected in playing AVI from my digital camera - although windows reports these are only at 128kbps. High bitrate mpgs however start instantly and play flawlessly - so I think it must be to do with the trancoder - what should I have installed?

Thanks.

To play DVR-MS files on your MVP, you need to have the Cyberlink mux installed.

You mean as it says here:

Why does my MediaMVP time out when trying to do Live-TV when using a BDA Multiplexer?

• If you are using a BDA multiplexer and finding that your live TV never seems to occur because the MediaMVP resets and reconnects to the server, then you may wish to choose a multiplexer that is not the Microsoft DVR-MS. The MS multiplexer encodes into the Microsoft Recorded TV Show format, which is not MPEG2 compliant. MediaMVP is a MPEG2 decoder only and as such GB-PVR must transcode the stream into an MPEG2 compliant stream (you need the CyberLink MUX for this) prior to transmitting it to the MediaMVP. This transcoding takes just a tad to long for the MediaMVP and hence Live-TV does not occur. So the solution is, do not use the Microsoft multiplexer with an MediaMVPSmile

To do this do I need to select software mpeg2 playback settings in the config; or adjust the BDA multiplexer settings in miscellaneous?

Sorry to be such a clueless idiot!!! Might try playing around tonight if I don't hear back then. Otherwise cheers for the pointer!!!

Was all set to give

a try - looks good btw :-) Edit: the beta software linked to here caused problems with mux registration that calls pvr recordings to fail - best left alone!

I think sub just means install (register) the cyberlink mux filter. FIND the mux (a single file) and just register it. To do this see:

Source 1 for a Cyberlink mux
Source 2 for a Cyberlink mux
Good Thread on the Cyberlink Mux
How to install (register) Mux Files without having to install a whole program (see B on Muxes)

After it is installed use BDA Mux Checker in the GBPVR program dir to check if it has been installed OK.

Then in Config, Misc Tab, under "BDA multiplexer" choose Cyberlink, rather than the default Microsoft DVR-MS. I think that's what sub means.

[EDITED]Apparently Cyberlink's PowerDVD does not contain the required mux. (But does have a codec).

Big Grin Cheers!

I've got PowerDVD so will try the steps above as you say. Could this be the first freeware I actually give a donation for???!!!!!

You shouldnt need to change any settings, as long as you have the Cyberlink mux installed on your machine.
