Hey,

Got GBPVR up and running and it is a lovely app. However, I'm having problems with watching Live TV. The picture often freezes on some channels (but the sound often continues) (this is UK Freeview - DVB-T - on a Happauge Nova T Stick USB thingy) and I get "No signal detected..." with Quality very low but Strength on full. Some channels don't even tune, whilst one or two are fine (for example, to assist with the attached ScanChannelsBDA log, at the minute More4 plays well, The Hits plays sometimes and freezes up sometimes - seemingly randomly? - and BBC One comes up with no quality and hardly any strength and won't tune in).

Of course, this sounds like a reception related thing, which wouldn't really surprise me as I'm using a crappy indoor aerial - but in the supplied WinTV2000 software, every channel tunes and plays absolutely fine - shame the software isn't too hot. Is there some difference between the way that WinTV tunes and the way GBPVR does? And if so, is there anything I can do about it?

Just FYI, other video plays fine in GBPVR, and I don't think my specs are a problem (Athlon 64 3000, 512MB, Geforce 6-something).

Cheers,
Tom

Did you try the patch from the sticky 'v0.97.13 survival guide' thread? See post #7.

Cheers, however that doesn't help Sad

I've just doublechecked, I was watching something (on E4) in WinTV with no problem, went and installed this patch and started GBPVR and the very same channel is coming up with "No signal detected" - full strength, very low quality, sound is perfect but picture is frozen.

Interestingly, I just (as in, as I typed this message) noticed that going down and then up back to the same channel has made it work fine (so I guess the last paragraph is kinda irrelevant Smile). I recall seeing this exact problem in another post but cannot think which one - if you have any clue which post/what the solution was, it'd be much appreciated.

I just quit and restarted GBPVR and can replicate the problem/"solution".

Cheers, really appreciate all of your hard work Sub.

And just to add to that, even going back to the TV guide then back to live TV results in it freezing (but the picture does appear briefly, so there is something to freeze), and going down then up always starts it going perfectly again.

So frustrating cause I'm sure I remember seeing this exact problem here but cannot think of what to search for!

Thanks

The only other thing I can think of is that some video decoders dont like the media PTS (timestamps) going to a lower number, which can happen when you change channels in live preview mode with digital. In this case the video decoder is sitting there waiting for the timestamp it was previously expecting, which may take a very long time to arrive. Try a different decoder to see if it helps.

Yep, changed to InterVideo decoder and everything seems fine now Smile Thanks!
