I live in an area where you can plug directly into the wall for basic cable or connect to a set top cable box to receive the digital channels. My question is how would it be best to set this up in gb-pvr. I have a dual tuner (AVC 3610). I want to be able to watch record from either input.

Thanks

Connect one input to your set top box, if the AVC 3610 has a cable tuner connect the non-digital signal to the other input...

Edit: don't know if the AVC 3610 is supported though

Thanx for the quick response. I understand connecting but i was wondering about the technical gbpvr setup like channel configuration etc. and recording functionality

The computer recognizes its as Adaptec OH but only works from one tuner. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I think i got it figured out last night i set both up to be adaptec video oh and set them to different capture device #'s and i was successfully recording two shows at the same time....I will have to do more checking tonight to make sure.

My question now is how would it be best to setup my channel lineup since i am using two different but very similar sources!? (one with the premium digital channels and one without)

One of the folllowing

- If one is a subset of the other, then you could just disable all the digital channels in one of the capture sources.

- You could configure the EPG to use an entirely different source. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but this may mean a separate XMLTV if you're using XMLTV, or a second zap2it account if you're using zap2it.

Also, a good practice would be to use the capture source with the fewest channels as number 1 (the one without that does not use the set top box in your case), since gbpvr chooses that one first when recording stuff. That means that your set top box will be free to use when gbpvr is recording just one show. Unless it's from one of the premium channels, that is.

Sub, I had a question about this too since I am thinking of doing this setup myself. If GBPVR was told to record channel 240(just saying) and 240 is only on digital, would it know to use the 2nd(digital) recording source and not even try the 1st(No set top box)?

Definitely, yes. As long as you don't have it listed (enabled) on your first capture source.
