New Plugin: TV Listings (TV Guide Replacement)

Hi,

However, I have 2 requests for changes/new functionality which relates to the lookup to Amazon. First I would like to find the option to lookup on the first popup screen and not hidden away at the bottom of the "find more" popup. Second, since many movies gets a title translation (in my case in Swedish) it will not find a match in Amazon and I would like to have the option to manually change the search criteria.

What do you mean by manually change the search criteria? A keyboard input option? I don't attend to do this, as it's (a) much work and (b) in my opinion not that useful as the application is controlled by a remote control - if one is going to search something specific, he could launch a webbrowser, too.
I agree with the first one, the amazon search is quite hidden in the find more popup. Maybe I will separate the amazon-search from the normal programme search in the future.

Hi,

you liked to have some suggestions for the FindMore-Popup.
I think the Popup is completely overcrowded. For me a FindMore-Popup should just find recordings with the same title. Not more.

But actually i like the other functions. Maybe you could insert a real "Find-Popup" or create a "Find-Plugin".
There you could use all the things you have in your FindMore-Popup. Insert a search string with the number keys (mobile phone style) and then search the string within title, subtile or description. Maybe restrict the search to one channel or search in all. And a genre search mode would also be a great thing too. Maybe a list of genres on the left and on the right a list of found broadcasts for the selected genre.

Maybe i'm just dreaming ... but something like this would really be great.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's almost a plugin inside of the plugin in the meantime, that's true. And it seems that separating both plugins would be a solution. I will think about it.

Yes, i guess i am asking for a keyboard input option, such as the one MyVideos have in its lookup which you control using the remote. Sure I can go to the desk launching a browser but it would be so nice sitting next to the TV. Maybe you can put it on the wishlist

well, that'll be lots of work, so I can't promise anything. But I'm already thinking about a complete rework of the find more plugin, maybe I'll be able to incorporate this then or later.

Hi,

I've just uploaded v0.8 of the TV Listings Plugin on the wiki:

Changes include:

- added support for reminders
- added possibility to reload the guide data by pressing Ctrl+R
- changed the way image files are located
- now possible to update endtime/padding of in-progress recordings

Please upgrade your GBPVR-setup first to the latest release before upgrading the plugin. You may have to change the filenames in your image resource directory, as the plugin now removes invalid characters instead of replacing them with ' ' when looking them up. Trailing spaces are now removed, too.

no, it does basically work with every epg-source, as it only reads out the listings from the gbpvr-database. If you want to have images displayed along with the programmes, than your epg-source must be either a xmltv-file that contains the <icon>-element for programmes, or you put images into a specific directory where the plugin looks for them.

No, it's the name of a german manufacturer of mirrored cabinets (for the bathroom). Actually, they are quite ugly in my opinion.

I've just uploaded a bugfix release on the wiki. It fixes a bug reported by Zoran in this thread, so the only change is:

2006–12–30 v0.8b Fixed a bug where the conflict popup was hidden by the find more popup.
